Synth with SH-101-style sequencer

I am looking for a simple synth with a sequencer similar to the SH-101. Obviously I could just buy a Roland SH-01a but I wonder what the alternatives are. The bouncier the better.

The Minibrute 2 springs to mind especially the 2s which has a very sophisticated sequencer.

I’m not sure the Take 5 has one. I know they added a feature in a firmware update where a foot pedal could start and stop the sequencer, but I don’t think it will advance with a trigger like a 101 will.

I have the db01 as well as their eurorack baseline module. They both sound pretty bad, massive disappointment to be honest.

Doesn’t the AS-1 have bad midi timing when slaved?

no not with a trigger.

But you can’t add ties in this mode as far as I know

I think the DB-01 sound great. Horses for courses I suppose.

Who mentioned the trigger?

I did, in regards to Take 5 not having that feature. To me that’s what’s special about the SH-101 style sequencer, is that you can advance it with a trigger.

And that’s why I’d recommend just going with the SH-01A. It’s great and converts midi to CV
