Syntakt : undesired double triggers

Yeah, I have that in mind as a final emergency exit, but it kills all the FX tails of my audio IN and it’s quite a bummer in a live show.

Well, at least I found my emergency exit: my Midihub is saving me one more time!! (long live to Midihub!!)
I took a patch from Blokas user forum and adapted it adding some lines.
Now, when I hold down one of the buttons on a controller and play any note, it turns off all the notes of the selected instrument. The jump is almost imperceptible (at least in the kind of noisy music I’m playing now).
I have to do it track by track, but at least it’s more decent than trying note by note until I get the right one.

Thanks all for the help!

Interestingly that actually doesn’t fix the issue I have found, it will stop the sustaining note, but the double trigger thing will still happen.

Exactly, for me it’s just a handbrake for this weekend show, but it definitely needs future attention. Like this, it gets super messy and unpredictable.

I tried to get the DN to do this with various voice allocations settings, ideally close to a fixed voice

Anyway, it seems to elegantly at least stop the auto-chan held note recording at the moment that the track focus is switched

So at a superficial level it looks like there is a good prospect that they can rectify this

Has anybody had confirmation ? It’s basically essential imho to present as straightforward a case that is repeatable as possible, starting from a blank pattern. It’s quite easy in this case for reproduce and I’d you have two tracks with different AHD and ADSR envelopes it’s easy to demonstrate the hanging note and double triggering issue (assuming you play a note different from the one which was worked at the transition to a new track)

Update the bugs topic with any feedback

Yeah, I have never had this issue with the Digitakt or Digitone, so it seems specific to the voice allocation of the Syntakt.

sorry for the late response

I have found two workarounds for this bug none of those are ideal be here they are anyway:

  1. turn off and on again the syntakt SOMETIMES fixes this

  2. reflash the syntakt with transfer

As I said this solved my issue today, but I’m on my studio, not in a live situation, I hope this get fixed soon by elektron

I’m routing polyphonic midi to ST today and running into a similar problem to other users in the thread. It was working fine for a while but now notes are only playing when you release the key. The issue is present when playing a track via the ST trig keys too. Rebooting does not fix the issue - as soon as you send a midi note the problem manifests again. I’m not using autochannel, just channels 1-8 round robin style. Any ideas?

I have this problem.

I am playing into the Syntakt from a controller keyboard, set to auto channel via a Plexus midi hub.

In order to clear the repeating, I play the note the Syntakt pad would play, which is mostly C5.

I know this may not help those in a live situation but thought I’d offer my input in case it helps clarify a fix for someone.

I just stumbled upon this same bug. Came here searching for a solution. I have a Behringer DeepMind 12 connected to the Syntakt via MIDI, both ways, so I can synch DM12 to Syntakt, but also trigger Syntakt via DM12 as a MIDI controller.

Some note gets stuck on and then the triggers for that sound will not play when I play the sequence, and I get the double notes when I press and release the pads or keys on DM12.

Confirmed I need to find the note that is stuck on and play it and then it becomes unstuck, again because its note-off signal was apparently never received the last time by the Syntakt.

I temporarily solved it by sending a sort of cluster of all the notes to unblock it. I did it by programming a line in Blokas Midihub (with the help of its developers).
With that at least I can unlock the locked track.
But it’s a real pain in the ass. I hope the folks at Elektron are working on it.

Finally! I found more people experiencing the same bug, I was beginning to think I was going crazy.
I have the Syntakt for about a year, but I started to use it with a Minilab 3 about a month ago. Then I discover about the autochannel config so I can play whatever track is active on the ST, which is really nice. But then I started to have this annoying bug.
It’s crazy that is almost 1 year and a half since this thread started and there is no solution so far, come on Elektron! 🤌🏼🤌🏼
I just submitted a support ticket about this, and I encourage everyone with the same bug to do the same, so maybe we can get a solution before having a chorus and a compressor in the FX track :slightly_smiling_face::laughing:

Its a known issue and not really an issue. It is caused by holding a midi note down on the auto channel while selecting new tracks on the syntakt at the same time. You end up not sending a needed note off. Usually it happens when running an arp and auditioning different syntakt tracks.

As mentioned in other topics on the subject, don’t confuse the device by changing tracks while pressing a note on the auto channel, and if you have done it, select the track again and resend the same note that caused the issue. That will send a note on and then a note off that was not registered previously. That fixes it.

Hey askf

Totally agree, I’ll send my comments and complaint to the guys at Elektron.
I’ve been suffering this bug for more than a year and a half and it has ruined more than one moment in my shows.

Hey peaceful

To me it is a real and important issue
I have never seen this behaviour in any instrument and it shouldn’t happen. If you can use it without it being an issue for you, that’s great. We don’t all use instruments in the same way.
But if the instrument proposes different ways to be used and one of them fails, then it is an issue (and an issue that happens precisely when you want to use it for performance, which makes things worse live).

I guess if I used it to mute and unmute programed patterns or to modify parameters live, I wouldn’t have any problems. But I use it to play its 12 channels live and every day I find one (or many) notes that get stuck and I have to go track by track searching until I find the note. An uncomfortable moment live.

This is definitely an issue, because it is not a problem on all other elektron devices. I have never had this problem on the Digitakt or the Digitone.
