Syntakt Science Lab #18: BD Modern

I got super excited about BD Modern, but after a few throwaways, I realized that what I love about it is that it’s an amazing (versatile)808 type bass sound. Yeah, it can be pushed to do other things, but I think this where it excels and every time I step away from it, I just want to go back.

Hope you can carve out some time. I’m struggling with the same thing right now too, but I’ll need to figure that out quickly.

Lol yeah, I just want to make slamming kicks with it most of the time because it’s so good at that

My contribution with a live recorded track (post processed in live with limiter/dynamics). 8 tracks of BD modern.

Found some nice sweet spots with squarish wave sounds, 303-like and lead but I found percs to be more difficult with this one.

Those synth sounds are pretty cool. Nice Sandstorm vibe

I’ve been looking at the Lab for months and finally I’ve got time to join the party. Hope I’ll eventually catch up all sessions I missed.

Two patterns, 8 tracks. My goal was to make a full track with BD Modern.
First pattern is the primary one, live mutes and knobs.
The second pattern is a filter transition. I automated filter cutoff and resonance with two LFOs and had to turn the overdrive knob manually.
I recorded ST output directly to Cubase. The only manipulation I did is normalization to -1 dB before export. That’s it.

Enjoy!

p.s. I love that FM hat on the track 8
