Syntakt Overbridge volume plummets to -50dB after opening Logic Pro VST/AU

Hey everyone,

I’m running into a frustrating issue with my Syntakt and Overbridge (using a Mac with a UA Apollo Arrow interface). Everything works flawlessly when using a brand-new project in the Overbridge Standalone app. However, the exact moment I open the Syntakt plugin inside my DAW (Logic Pro), the volume plummets to an almost inaudible level (around -50dB).

Once this happens, the project stays completely quiet even if I close the DAW and go back to the Standalone app. The individual split tracks still stream properly through Overbridge, but the volume is just incredibly low across everything.

My Setup:

  • Elektron Syntakt
  • Universal Audio Apollo Arrow (UA Console)
  • Logic Pro (AU/VST Plugin)
  • Overbridge (Latest Standalone & Engine)

What I have already tried to fix it:

  • Hardware Volume Boosts: Adjusted USB to Main [dB] and toggled Int to Main on the Syntakt, but because it’s in Overbridge mode, these settings are ignored.
  • Overbridge App Levels: Main volume slider in the Overbridge Standalone app is confirmed at 0dB.
  • Project Isolation: Confirmed that opening a brand-new project resets the volume to normal in Standalone, meaning the issue is being forcefully written into the specific project file by the DAW sync.
  • Overbridge Control Panel: Opened the control panel to investigate, but the “Capture/Stream” track checkboxes/grid are completely missing from the window.
  • Background Engine: Completely restarted the Overbridge background engine process on my Mac, but it did not fix the volume drop.

It seems like Logic is sending a hidden MIDI CC message or forcing a Total Recall sync that completely wipes out my internal Syntakt track volumes upon launch.

Next Steps I’m considering:

  • Disabling the “Volume” and “Pan” reset checkboxes under Logic Pro → Settings → MIDI → Reset Messages to see if that blocks the automated CC data.
  • Changing the Total Recall sync direction to “Device to Plugin”.

Has anyone seen the Overbridge Control Panel lose its track configuration boxes like this, and what is the best way to stop Logic from permanently crushing my project volume? Any advice would be heavily appreciated!

This isn’t a DT topic, but rather than moving it there i’ll await a link to the few existing topics on this … i believe it is a well known issue regarding Logic and midi velocity being spuriously reduced to 1 iirc … those topic(s) almost certainly point the way forward
