I sold the MC101. The idea was to use it as a sound module controlled by the Digitakt. I had a bit of luck, but damn there were a lot of workarounds and limitations. I use the microfreak now and it works seamlessly. (CCs mapped, DT LFOs controlling the Freak’s parameters etc). I know your question is not about the Microfreak, but I just wanted to let you know the 101 is a bit of pain to use this way, and I’d consider something else for this use if I were you.

Bit late to the party here but I love my mc-101 and syntakt combo. I use one track on the syntakt to control which scene is playing on the 101. This way I only use 1 track on the syntakt but can utilise all 4 101 tracks. The downside is saving the project on both devices but as they both open up automatically on the last project it’s no t a big deal.

The Roland S1 is a great addition for a bit of polyphony. it’s a really powerful little synth and has chorus/delay/reverb effects and full MIDI implentation.
(unlike the MC101 whose MIDI implentation is only half a page long)
I’m also looking at a Roland P6 for sampling/granular but Roland’s out of stock at the moment. ![]()
