Syntakt II speculations

I want to buy a Syntakt, but Digitakt 2 has recently been released. I am afraid that Syntakt 2 will be released after buying Syntakt. Does anyone know when Syntakt 2 will be released? Thanks

It will not be released soon enough for this decision to impact your purchase.

Nobodies knows that other than Elektron staff and they are notoriously tight lipped.

IMO, it’s highly, highly, highly unlikely that Syntakt would see a successor so early in it’s life. Just remember the original DT came out in 2017 and Syntakt came out in 2022.

If you want a Syntakt, just buy one.

Thanks

What would you want in a syntakt 2 that a syntakt doesn’t have? If you like syntakt just buy it, it’s an incredible instrument

Thanks, because the Digitakt 2 upgrade brings a lot of new things, if Syntakt2 can also have many updates, I will happily wait for it

Buy the device exists today, not worth waiting for something does not exist

I would wait for syntakt 3 tbh, better specs

Once Syntakt 2 releases you may find yourself waiting for Syntakt 3 in 2035.

Just get one if you want one.

I totally understand this feeling.
But Syntakt is still fresh, yet solid.
One of the most immediate grooveboxes, I’ve found, not encountered bugs, and can do many different things.
There are chances it gets updated in the future, but as is right now, it’s a box that still makes me enthusiastic ^^

I don’t think it’s fair to give them a hard time for wanting to know if there will be a syntakt II soon, it’s a perfectly valid question. But the answer is A) nobody knows outside of elektron, and B) not soon, and both of those answers are correct.

If a person enjoys what is available now, they won’t spend their life waiting for what they might enjoy more tomorrow. I think it’s ok to purchase a syntakt now if you love it for what it is, because elektron does historically provide many updates to existing equipment, so it’s safe to say that at the least syntakt 1 won’t be getting any worse.

I guess you never know but easier to just buy and then if you want to upgrade in the future sell and make up the difference. Sure you may spend a little more overall but you get to use a device you want in the interim, which will likely be a good amount of time.

Syntakt is great, today. Seriously. Such a good little magic box.

It’s also a fairly recent release which means that 1) it’s unlikely there will be a new version any time soon and 2) IIRC it has been built on a newer platform than was used in the original Digitakt and the Digitone, so it’s a safe bet that there will be firmware upgrades in future that add cool new stuff.

Elektron have a stellar record when it comes to updating their devices and adding new features (for free BTW) even when the device has been around for a while.

I wouldn’t expect anything soon in terms of new ST firmware (I imagine that the whole Elektron team are flat out squashing DT2 bugs) but once that all calms down, I’m pretty sure the Syntakt will get some love.

TL;DR just buy it and know it will (almost certainly) get even better in future.

Never is, for sure.
Especially for a newcomer.
Hope you have a thick enough skin, @IzayoiHibiki

But yeah, no one knows and I can safely say I haven’t heard of a ST2 so far.

I can’t wait for Syntakt 2. I’m expecting better high-hats, an additional “room” reverb algorithm, and Parameter Slides.

I wonder if Elektron will ever release something with slide trigs again

As others have said, I wouldn’t worry about it. With the DT1 -> DT2 cadence as a reference, a possible Syntakt 2 would release in 2029. Besides, I’m sure updates to the current Syntakt firmware are coming. In fact, Elektron marketing even alluded to it.

Also, not updating a 2-year young product would be extremely un-Elektron-like. So, I think it’s pretty safe to say that the Syntakt, which is already amazing, will only get better within the next year.

they have more updates coming. i’d say the syntakt is probably closer to the digitakt 2 than the digitakt is. i doubt they will release a syntakt 2 anytime soon. there’s no way they’ve made enough profit on it from the r n d costs etc to justify it. internally, it is probably already using very similar designs to the digitakt 2/analog heat fx2. finally, i think they have more updates in the pipeline as its supposed to have a lot more machines.

Ok, so now that we have the answer about the Syntakt 2 :

When will DN 2 release ?

Imho it seems like the natural next one up and with recent cadence suggesting next year?

But then again they COULD drop a new flagship next year and thus push DN2 at least another year. If ever. Super hard to tell, but this year would surprise me. Then again, DT2 surprised me so don’t accept anything i say at face value :joy:
