I have an issue I can`t seem to solve.
I have the Syntakt connected via overbridge. Also I have a midi keyboard connected via usb to my DAW.
When I load the Syntakt plugin and select a midi channel, can play each track of my Syntakt with the MIDI keyboard, depending on the selected midi channel
That all works well, but here is the issue. I have also connected another external synth to the Syntakt via Syntakt midi out to the synth’s midi in.
When I play the Syntakt keys, it works and it plays the external synth. However, when I try to select this particular midi channel via DAW and the connected midi keyboard, it somehow ignores my input.
Does anyone knows what I am doing wrong here?
My guess is that Syntakt is receiving the notes from my DAW but can`t forward them to the actual Syntakt midi out?
Have you tried to use the midi through, but with matching midi channels? So let’s say track 8 is the midi channel, set that to play your synth on channel 8 and set your synth to receive only on channel 8. Then set you daw to play channel 8. Only thing you can leave on a different midi channel should be your midi keyboard, I think.
Lets say I just connect my midi keyboard to the Syntakt midi-in for testing, as soon as I plug the midi cable to midi-thru it won`t work anymore.
So basically midi-out Syntakt to midi-in synth is working. Midi-thru Syntakt to midi-in synth is not working.
I am sure I am doing something wrong here
Can you gave us some more settings and info
Which daw are you using ?
The midisettings of the miditrack used in your daw
The settings of the miditrack of the ST
The general midisettings on the ST
I am using Studio one.
But it really shouldn`t be that complicated, I start thinking its either a bug or just not possible.
I feel like I tried everything.
I start thinking midi thru doesn`t work if midi data comes via usb.
If I connect a midi keyboard straight into midi in of the syntakt its all working just fine
In case anyone else is running into this issue. I kind of figured it out.
It is a bit odd though. It seems like the overbridge plugin doesn`t let midi notes through properly.
So basically what I had to do is to create an extra midi track in my DAW and send midi from my midi keyboard directly to the Syntakt.
You can convert usb midi to din midi by dedicating a Syntakt track to midi, listening for the usb signal via midi config, transmitting over din via the midi track destination channel. Scyzo above is right, though, it’s not designed to convert usb midi signals straight to din (since it’s a sequencer).
