But … manipulating virtual controls on screen with a mouse is no fun. ![]()
Totally. Also a Syntakt with about half the samples holding x0x sounds and the others with whatever other samples you want to use for things is such a complete package for something like house music. I ride hard for the Syntakt, I got one super cheap as an afterthought and it turned out to be my favorite groovebox and is on basically everything I record.
This Ricky Tinez video is literally just him making house on it and they’ve added a ton of great features and the sample player since then: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTsD6FpO9F8
OP should probably watch that to get a feel for if that would be a fun workflow for them or not, but you’re definitely not going to be able to produce a full house track with so much depth with just an A4 or Nina like you can with a Syntakt.
ST would be by far the best decision out of the 3, when it comes to „learning“ and especially house music.
Haha I agree nothing beats a tactile purpose designed physical interface
even with a bunch of assignable midi controls it’s really not the same
I gotta watch that Ricky vid, I had the Syntakt for a bit and I always went to more gritty techno territory skill issue on my end obviously ![]()
Another vote for the Syntakt, it’s a very good introduction to different forms of synthesis and can go pretty deep !
If you can afford the Melbourne you could splash out on a brand new AR+A4 combo. That’ll keep you busy for a while ![]()
After selling off my Syntakt two years ago, and buying another since Twinshot, I’m starting to appreciate the Syntakt more now. Oh my goodness, this is probably one of Elektron’s best boxes. I had the A4 and I do have the other Digi twins II, but Syntakt is a lot deeper, and even, dare I say, more fun to use!
