Syncing with Cubase

Hello Everyone,

I’m probably purchasing both the AK and AR soon and i’m curious if everything will sync up properly with my DAW (Cubase)?
At this point i am done with all the mouse fiddling and looking at a computer screen. I want to get hands-on/learn both units and get creative.

For the creating process i would like to create/start my music within these two units and basically sync up cubase for adding vocals and add additional instrumentation. At the end i will return to cubase for mixing and finishing my tracks.

I am wondering if there is anybody who can give me some advice on the whole syncing stuff with Cubase?

Thanks for reading!

Justus

just look into latency compensation and external inputs/bus routing

Thanks Junovhs,

The routing isn’t a problem for me i guess. I know about the latency compensation feature in Cubase, will look into that a little deeper…

I was wondering if there where any Cubase users that use Elektron gear beside it, and if everything works as expected.

Thanks again!

Justus

no problem

well there really is nothing special to consider, syncing elektron gear is no different than any other piece of gear in the universe

here are the possible ways you can connect

up to 6 audio outputs feeding into your interface card, into cubase tracks (4 mono for tracks, and a main output stereo pair). The only configuring to do here is setting up pathways from your audio interface in cubase

you can send audio OUT of cubase, INTO the analog keys as an effects processor, and then back OUT into cubase. This is where the latency would be the biggest issue

MIDI - you can use the USB cable to do midi in/out, which I recommend. Its class-compliant so cubase will see the analog keys automatically. Set up the input/output channels and you can playback midi through the AK or use the AK as a midi controller

you can also use the actual midi din connectors with other gear, I dont know much about that

Hello junovhs,

That was some great info.
Basically that answers all my questions to be honest.

Thanks for your time

Just as a thought, if I missed the point apologies.

Pressing Ctrl and Right mouse on the sync in the (F2) transport panel will bring up all your sync options, so can send sync to AK. Dont know if this helps, but it works nicely with a lot of kit.

Thanks for chipping in mfx! Didn’t knew that shortcut, appreciate it!!!
It’s all synced and working together except for the AK transport controls.
Can’t seem to get that working, tried a lot.
It’s not a dealbreaker or anything though :joy:
