I just bought an Octatrack with hopes that it would be a nice piece for live use. Basically i’m going to sample loops from all my other synths so i don’t have to travel with them. One thing i’ve had trouble with is using the Octatrack as the master clock (when i use the 909 as master it works perfect and everything else syncs up too).
Is there anything i’m doing wrong? I’m using the SWINX din/midi convertor to sync up the 808/etc, but the 808/606 still lag.
Please help! Thanks!
Do 606/808 lag every time you press play?
I sync my 606 from OT>AK>606. Works fine but occasionally when I press start there’s a slight lag. Quickly pressing play again always fixes it, and once locked in the 606 stays synced forever.
I’d be pointing the finger at the sync converter if its lagging every time. Have you used the sync box with any other midi device as master clock?
I’ve used the sync box with the 909 as the master, and also the future retro mobius…no problems with them. I did the ol’ start stop (double stop tap) trick on the OT. Still lagging. what sync box are you using?
early 909 versions are notorious for not slaving to clock. they prefer being the master.
guys on ebay sell a version 4 eprom that apparently fixes the timing issue for around AU$35. to see what version your 909 has, power off, then hold down the track 1 button and power on. LEDs 1-4 will light according to the version you have.
i just use the 909 as master to sample a few patterns it into the OT, then i disconnect the 909 and connect my other synths and let OT be the master.
I’m not using a sync box - the analog keys puts out sync 24 or 48 from its midi out and thru ports (they’re configurable as midi or sync) Works really well with OT or AK as master.
Looks like Robotunes post contains the answer to this one…
i’ll try using the mobius as the master clock…hopefully it works…thanks guys!
