Just a quick question. I am running my Rytm MK2 + Analog Four MK2 through Ableton using Overbridge. My OT MK2 just arrived and I am wondering how I can sync the device to the others.
Is it possible to sync the OT via a Midi Cable to any of the other two devices? Which one to choose? Any recommendations on how to do that the most efficient way, maybe also step by step In the end I want to go dawless (just bought a MidiHub) at some point but for now I want to learn how to use the OT and jam a little using the other two devices with Overbrige and Ableton.
All my devices are connected via MIDI Din cables. I’m using the OB plugins set to NO SYNC and use one of my device as the Master Clock and Transport. This way, I don’t rely on a space bar to start my devices. Of course, I’m matching the BPM of the Master and Ableton if I have to record.
This makes a lot of sense, and I’ll probably be making the switch to this setup, using the OT as master. Will let me make full use of the arranger as well. The space bar thing was bugging me a little bit!
I assume Ableton is master clock when you are actively recording and not just jamming, right?
I found the best way to sync devices it’s to don’t sync the clock but just the transport.
I found that it has less jitter and it keeps the timing better.
I set the same bmp on Ableton and hardwares.

Devices connected via OB are super tight on grid but the OT is always way off no matter what I try. Ive done the Driver Error Compensation in Ableton but it seems that MIDI from the AR to OT and the Audio from the OT to my sound card always are adding some latency. I guess there is no easy way to just jam without once device being alway off with this configuration… I assume this problem is obsolete once everything is connected and synced via MIDI, unfortunately I sound card has not enough inputs for recording everything then.
If you send midi clock from an Overbridge device to the OT,
best to feed the audio to the external in on the device rather than your soundcard because Overbridge has the clock and audio matched correctly and it should be in perfect time…

So far, so good. Thank you for your work with the Support. I also tried to send a Dump file to them by email but then I realized that the file was around 60 Gb. I delete the file, contact them and they tell me to link the file from my Google Drive. That was last week. Since then, Ableton didn’t crash so I couldn’t send them a Dump file. And now, the new OB.
Cheers, it took a bit of work to get the exact dump file they needed to find the problem,
but got it in the end, The Elektron support were great and wanted to get it fixed and followed it up quickly… so full credit goes to them!
