Will there be a way to export the MIDI files to a computer?
i love the mindset that fills up 30% of the internal space with a bigass speaker thats very cool
Canadian? I am guessing that is about Ā£800- I am not thinking thatās overpriced butique stuff is expensive now-a-days (plus I own and OP1F and XY!)
Design: top
Sounds good.
If itās sample/wavetable based some form on user providable sounds would have been nice.
Rest⦠Itās so minimal hat it actually bothers me a bit.
There are 2 big misses: line in (1 would have been enough) to a) use the speaker for some other gear like a small synth, drum machine, FX pedal, etc to loop it back to the speaker (with maybe a mix option)
b) midi in and out. In to sequence from external gear (here I soooomewhat understand the omission, it reduces it to its sounds) but more so: if I already pay so much money for a good quality keybed and speaker, I want it to be able to also play my other gear.
Or Iām so wealthy to have space for multiple high quality keyboards and the space for it.
Iām not talking massive midi implementation. Just an out for the keybed midi (and maaaybe the 4 layers would be cool with being able to set the midi channels)
Essentially: no midi out and line in is a huge miss imho, since so much focus is on the expensive high quality keybed and great speaker.
(And I donāt think those would have increased the cost a ton or distracted from itās reduced clean concept)
Back to the positive: nice clean design. And seems to have an actually usable speaker for once.
Given they make ipad apps, I wonder if there will be a sound engine editor or loop manager as an āappā (USB3).
I definably like it, kind of coffee table synth you could start an idea with- a not portable OP1F!
Yeah, Canadian.
I agree, it is not really overpriced for boutique stuff, but if I sit and think about making a purchase, and what else I could get for that sort of money (Roland Juno/Fantom, MPC, Elektrons, Ableton/Push, Arturia, etc), which could basically achieve the same result, it gets harder and harder to justify.
Not trying to throw shade, I really love the concept of simplicity and the build quality looks great, just saying that it could be a pretty hard sell for people outside of Europe.
I would be so into this if it was sub $1k
Agreed.
Love the simplicity of the concept, but then again, the concept is only proving to us that we are so easily distracted that we should ārewardā ourselves with something so basic for $1k. Like, letās get our heads out of our asses and use what we already hav⦠oh look thereās a donut.
Sorry, I donāt want to yuck someoneās yum, and props to to Auxy and Cuckoo for putting in the work. I hope it does very well for them!
always happy to see new gear with new styleā¦
and even more so personally love when gear is not hyping DAW integration, but is intended either by itself or with other gear ![]()
Anyways, I think we can never have too many small companies pushing new ideas into fruition.
Wonder how much the subscription will be ![]()
Man, this thing looks gorgeous. This is how instruments should be designed. Very happy for Cuckoo.
This looks and sounds very nice. But I think it needs a way to save and later call up backing parts. So you can perform a couple of songs, prepared in advance, for instance. Maybe there will be an app for such things, that you can run on your smartphone?
Iām thinking an app is a given as that is what Auxy did before hardware!
No midi? Very strange decision.
From their spec on their web-site :
- USB-A for class-compliant audio and MIDI
Oh ok. Not easy to connect to other hardware with usb midi though.
Letās hope so.
Thatās the biggest omission for me as well.
Would love this plus my guitar thought the looper and out to the onboard speakers. That would keep me busy for long ā¦
So it doesnāt have:
- Normal layer/split functions (layers only with looping)
- Not multi timbral
- No aftertouch
- No pitch and mod wheels
- Very limited sound customization
- Nobody knows how many sounds and selecting sounds seems very clunky. You have to remember where everything is.
Sounds super limited with premium price. Made in EU, so that is a plus.
Good to see you here joining us JKorv.
This brings up a question in my mind ā Is the looping stored as audio, or as MIDI that gets revoiced each time around the loop.
I think itās stored as MIDI.
In which case i clearly hear multitimbrality in this video.
Detail on how it responds to external MIDI is also not clear to me yet, but i bet it is similar.
