For my MA research and dissertation, I’m investigating how we as a community interact with our equipment, think about sustainability, and value it.
If you have 15-20 minutes, I’d appreciate it if you could fill out this anonymous survey. It explores our relationship with music tech in today’s environmentally conscious world.
Your responses will help shed light on how the music tech landscape is changing. Here’s the link:
The sooner I can gather responses, the sooner I can begin writing my dissertation, so I’d really appreciate any help you can offer.
A couple of the questions (eg 6, 29) have likert scales for multiple options but you have to select each option only once, so they end up as another form of ranking question, which doesn’t seem t the best choice for the question being asked
Hi Alex, I have enabled ‘forced ranking’ on matrix questions as it makes it slightly easier for me when it comes to assessing the data. Its the first survey i’ve ever put out but it wont be the last. So in the future my approach will be different and less simplistic.
Yeah for question 5 (?) and 28 where you have to pick one from each column, it means I have to say “not at all” for one, but that isn’t how I feel. I might think everybody is at least partially responsible for sustainability, but I have to say one of the groups is not at all responsible because of how the survey is made.
Do any music tech products have marketed environmental features?! It might be nice to be able to choose music gear based on which is the most green, but is that even possible?
Anyway, I filled it in and tried to give the best answers I could - good luck with the MA!
I understand it’s restrictive, and I definitely will have gotten things wrong in this initial approach. However, all feedback is being logged, and next time around, it will incorporate all vital and effective feedback such as this. I’m worried about consistently changing it now that it’s gone up.
Hi again, everyone. I need 43 more respondents to answer all three parts of the survey and demographics section before I can begin analysing the results and writing.
If you see this message and have not answered the survey yet, please do so. It would mean a great deal as I have limited time to write my dissertation. Thank you!
Just sent the link to my email to do tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing the results and all the best to you with your dissertation! My Dad and sister both went through it, I marvel.
