This weekend I went to DRIFT festival. All DJ’s were very disappointing to me, but some live sets were very nice. Satori, Minilogue and especially Surgeon.
I thought… probably you also like it, since many people like these analog, modular synthesizers.
I’ve always admired Surgeon’s dedication to pushing in new directions, whilst maintaining a sonic consistency that you can always identify as Surgeon-like.
I only got to see him do a “hybrid” live set in 2004, it was ableton with a controller, it was mostly DJing with ablton, but i could her a few “live” elements come and go.
It was much more dance-able than a lot of his modular sets, i really am not a fan of watching someone dig thru patch cables to twiddle a knob for an hour.
