Superbooth 18

Maybe if Cenk gets lost, or there is an alternate reality Dataline he can demo this product?

There’s a ton of new stuff on the way:

MacBeth is showing a redo called Elements EL2 that should be good.
The DS1drumstation a semi modular drum machine from Soundmachines.
A twelve track matrix sequencer the Seq12 from ModeMachines.
The Norns sound processing synth from the makers of the Monome

Interesting that the Elements EL2 states both: Vintage ICs, AND “all discrete”. I’m not a purist there, (in fact I prefer ICs) so I really don’t care, but funny to see both items mentioned. Looks pretty amazing as usual though.

AND another new synth from Dreadbox

NOT the Lil Erebus and NOT the Medusa – something new!

They really are busy - maybe something more like the Medusa was originally planned to be before the sequencer grid was added?

Uno Synth

IK Multimedia has been teasing this for a week now. The Uno Synth. Looks like it’s Volca territory – and first impressions shows a very worthy small inexpensive analog synth, 16 step sequncer, with a nice user interface. ($200 USD) ADDED: Perhaps that 200 Euros.

Doors open soon – it’s hours now 'til doors open. No doubt some insiders are already sneaking behind the scene. Last chance to get the stuff working for the show – it’s smoke and mirrors time.

I think that new IK synth has parameter locking.

This sounds really good to me. Looking forward to discovering what it is!

Gearnews has a rolling report with announcements from the show.

CROW Intelligence from BirdKids

I’ve wanted something like this for a long time. It’s a intelligent programmable patch matrix for CV and Eurorack. I need to dig in to see how well this will work. The idea (or my hope) is that will allow you to automate patching on Eurorack, so you can save and then go back to old patches, without having to unplug and plug stuff together again. That’s the theory anyway – we’ll see.

Superbooth 2018 videos are starting to roll in.

My Mate [works for Ableton] : “Hey mate, I got free tickets for Superbooth. You fancy to go?”

Me: “When is it?”

Mate: “Weekend, May 4th”

Me: “Fugg that shit. I’ll go to Arena for some Stoner/Psych/Doom madness at DesertFest Berlin.”

Mate: “Aaw shit, it’s that weekend yeah?”

Me: “Yeah mate”

Mate: “You know if there are still tickets left?”

Two things on my wishlist:

  1. Overbridge 2.0. I’m predicting its ready to go and they’ve been waiting to launch it at Superbooth '18. Been waiting very patiently since i got my A4MK2, patience has waned a little since I got my Digitone.
  2. Digidrum: An 8 voice, 8 track digital drum synthesizer based on the Digitakt/Digitone form factor. With the dual MCU set up from Digitone there’s obviously enough horsepower under the hood to make it happen. If they made a Digidrum, they would have the “Holy Trinity” as flagship instruments, and the “Digitrio” as their high value, budget oriented instrument line.
