Morning everyone!
So I was messing around this morning with LFO’s on the digitakt and used it to sidechain an external instrument, M32 in this particular case.
I use M32 as my main bass/sub so its is important for me to make room for the kick. I’ll explain the steps in case it might be interesting for somone.
- On M32 I set the assign output to CC#1
- Connect assign output into VCA CV IN
- Set envelope to taste, for me short attack and medium decay.
- Then on Digitakt I like to have my note triggers and the sidechain effect into separate tracks.
- Create 2 midi tracks that output midi to the same channel.
- In the first channel write down your note sequence
- In the second channel, activate CC#1. Set the knob to around 12 o’clock
- Set an LFO with the following settings: Exponential wave, Mode set to ONE and Depth fully left. Apply this LFO to CC#1.
- Put Trigless trigs (func + trigger) in the desire position (1 ,5 ,9 and 13 so it goes with the kick).
- Press play and work on the speed of the Lfo to get the desire effect.
- DONE!
I prefer to have the effect on a separate track even though you can have it in the same track, but for me is useful to be able to activate and deactivate de effect as I wish just muting a track.
Anyways, hope this helps somone and if you have another way of doing this it will always be welcome!
Cheers
