Sugar Bytes "Dialekt" - I wish this was a HARDWARE groovebox

iOS versions are now available :sunglasses:

But dang… Without the ability to change instrument per track it really lost a lot of steam for me.

wow I’m surprised that they didn’t respond about this yet, I’ve seen alot of people asking them about it

Update: they responded and they said… Naaaaaaaaay!

Over on the LoopyPro forums, SugarBytes have clarified that the way in which the app was coded has made it basically impossible to change track types out. So, the track options that are built in are intentional and - very likely - will not be able to be changed, even in a future update/IAP/ etc.

Wow, that seems a bit short sighted

Dialekt, like any groovebox, is about limitations. I honestly don’t understand the hubbub about the track limitations. It’s a super fun groovebox that intentionally only allows for a given configuration. If you really need more, just make more vst/au instances.

For me, the limitation is a benefit: I don’t spend time trying to decide what each track should be. Tracks are what they are and it cuts through decision paralysis. In general, there’s a trend towards wanting more flexibility in software, and I find it frustrating. More isn’t always more! I would like Dialekt less if they added that functionality.

it’a a pattern, they did it with Egoist too… it’s always something when it comes to sampling… I think I’ve purchased everything they’ve made with the exception of Drum Computer and this Dialekt… might still get DrumComputer, but I’m gonna hold off on Dialekt because their sampling ethos keeps passing me by… The stuff people are asking about Dialekt they’ve heard it all before when they put out Egoist and they are talented when it comes to sample based features but sometimes it doesn’t matter if a dev is good at something or not novation is the same way as is Native Instruments… if their heart isn’t in it, then they are just not going to do it in this free market feature set society we live in.

always about that limitation sh*t, like when polyend put out the play, or no resampling on the tracker, or the Move came out, or… or… or… or… it is what it is I’m not mad at’em I’m jiffy, it’s all peanut butter.

I agree with this, but if it’s been coded to be virtually impossible to change that seems pretty short sighted.

ā€œThat which will not bend will breakā€ is a core tenet of software design

Came here to see if anyone was playing with this plug in. Pretty cool in my opinion. Really cool to tell you the truth.

Seems like cool stuff is all sugarbytes does

IOS: Have to say the way you need to navigate to the Song tab to initialize the patch is a bit strange.

I’m not sure I’ll remember that the next time I come back to it.

Is it the same way on the plugin?

I wonder if this would have taken off better if they allowed you to have as many slice tracks as you wanted?
