Sub37 as MIDI controller for A4...anyone doing it?

Hi! I have some questions regarding A4 and Sub37.

Is anyone using the Sub37 as a MIDI keyboard for the A4?

If so is it working well? Or is it loads of hassel to get it working?

Why Im asking is because i have the option to trade my A4 for a new Analog Keys and i also have a Sub37 coming my way.

Ive looked around on the web and no topics regarding Sub37 controlling the A4, only the otherway around.

I would be really happy to hear your input and toughts about using Sub37 as Midi controller vs. getting a Analog Keys.

Hi, I have this combo but I haven’t tried it using the moog as the controller. I have used the moog to control synths in reason and it works well but there are a few issues. In order to stop the pots and buttons on the moog sending midi data you need to switch local control off. When you switch to using the moog you might need to turn this back on if you are using the editor – could be pain!
I have been thinking about tryin out what you are talking about….my setup has been dismantled but I’ll try and give it a shot as soon as I can.
It would be cool if you could record midi notes from the moog onto the cv track so it can sequence the moog. I find the moog sequencer a bit of a pain when trying to do stuff live or create patterns with lots of different note lengths.
The massive bass on the sub 37 makes a great combo with the A4 : )

Well i went down the easy road…traded in my A4 for a Keys. :yum:

Did you notice much difference in the bass end with keys version?

Just wired that up and its a piece of pi$$ man. It works well…aftertouch, mod wheel etc. Looking at the editor it looks like you can map the cc’s really easily using a drop down menu so you could control lots of parameters on the A4.
Just need to figure out the CV track…it looks like it records midi notes too.

Your post has actually just improved my workflow big time!

I think the keys is well the better choice by the way…I sometimes wish mine had keys! Enjoy!

Well my Analog Keys havent arrived yet. I sent my A4 today and the guy said he ordered a Keys and that it will arrive earliest next monday. So sometime next week i can give u an opinion regarding lower end on the Keys.

Im glad that ur workflow improved. I hope my workflow will improve when my Keys arrive :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Yeah 4 outputs an extra controllers, extra bass hell yeah its gonna get a lot worse for you haha : )

whilst many ‘had both’ owners didn’t feel there was any difference, there was a thread a long while back with A / B samples to listen through, there was certainly (with deep listening) a slightly more open bottom to the sound projected from the keys, a useful improvement … probably less of a reason to upgrade than all the others (workflow) and whilst i’d love one too i’d really really miss the full size trigs and the portability and dark-trinity neatness  great keyboard on it when I tried one, perfect to exploit the multimap and get aftertouch etc mapped up for CV fun and suchlike

Ive not even looked at the multimap function yet!! Theres so much crammed in to the thing.
Portability and already having things with keys steered me away. Good to know Im not missing much bass tho!
Altho I do tend to find myself jamming in the key of C a lot with the 1oct buttons hah.
It is a proper pandoras box : D

Hope you’re enjoying your new synths : )
I dont know if this will be of any use to you at all but it works great in my setup.

Basically playing notes on the Sub > Records Midi Data on A4 CV track > sends back to Sub over CV.
Pretty useful for recording a groove.
