I thought it would bother me on the A4, but it turns out it really does not.
There are things about the sub OSC sections that I appreciate more than I would appreciate having level control, like the “5th” SUB setting 7 semitones down, for instance.
Turns out, for my music, this gives me far more power than having level control. I view each voice as having 4 OSCs because of the various sub OSC types.
This feature is further exploited with parameter locks in the sequencer. So, when comparing it to other synths, it soon becomes apparent how powerful it is in its capabilities with sound design as well as composition. The sequencer makes each voice greater than the sum of its parts.
Also, for what it’s worth, the sub OSC levels that are pre-assigned, so to speak, are just right for me. Sure, it would be nice to be able to modulate that level but it is capable of far more interesting modulations. Plus, you can get that functionality with creative workarounds using additional voices with neighbor oscillators and such. It’s one of those cases were the limitation forces you into a creative alley you might not have arrived at otherwise.
=Theris so mutch power in this machines that I see this as a minor issue. Ofcoarse level-control woul be better but wathever synth that exists , there are always limits.
Whenever I want total control over just the Sub-level I turn off the main osscilator. The level off the sub is adjusted together with the Ossc-level so I can now control the level of the sub in relation to the other osc. as there are 2 of them. Or there’s the High-pass filter withc U can use tho filter-out the low-frequencies.
There are so many different ways to achieve your goals with this instruments. Maybe you should try-out the machine somewhere - but if you do - give it some time ( I’ve been testing it in a music-shop over more than 6 monts )- they are much deeper than they seem in the beginning. Ones you become aware of all the parts and how they interact - with can take quit some time - you’ll realise how vast the possebilities are.The sum ot the parts is mutch bigger than you’d expext. And ones you start using parameter-locking - WOW !
To me the sub level is just a touch higher than id like, and it bothered me at first. Spend a bit of time with it and you get used to it - like any limitation on a synth, once figured in to your programming from the ground up it isnt a problem, just a characteristic and part of what makes an ak sound like an ak.
Also for a lot of patches you can of course use the 2nd osc as a level controllable sub, or send from one filter into the osc of the next track and a couple more subs to play with (losing a track admittedly).
This is what I’ve been doing when I need to adjust the relative level of the sub osc. For single osc patches especially, it’s easy to just use the second osc without the sub and blend to taste.
But, like Adam, most of the time I find it’s set just right.

Nope. But there are a good number of female synth-freaks in my neck of the woods. And I agree it does make for a nicer community. Diversity is a great energizer of creativity in any art form!
I do suspect that on this forum, as in many other places on the internet, there are probably a fair number of women who simply avoid revealing their gender.
Given the cyberbullying , harrassment, doxing, and other deplorable behavior by the worst of the 'net’s bad apples, it’s a perfectly rational strategy to avoid being sucked into the black hole of human inhumanity.
So don’t assume there aren’t any women around here. There are probably more than you think.

You’re probably right ! and I shouldn’t assume … thanx
It’s ashame that woman stil have to be careful in this world …
I’ve been travelling a bit on my own on this planet and it really bothered me how this is mutch more difficult if not impossible for women as there are many assholes who don’t respect them … at some levels we are stil barbarians.
