Stuck on old OS/ no possible reset nor test mode

Hi there,

I do music for quite a while, but rather new to OT, I read the basics of manual yes; currently on the merlin one… the issue i face, cant be found in the manual.

In order to update to 1.40 I hooked the OT up to my MacbookPro. I had downloaded previously an update from Elektron’s website. But it’s been a previous one (oh gosh) and i bet i did proceed here a little too swiftly. As a matter of fact, the OT somehow got stuck and I needed to power off/on… I’ve found the right upgrade file by now, but my OT is stuck since on the bootscreen, saying 1.30, blinking (the wrong update s been 1;25, so technically it would have been a degrade, might have f##ed up because of that) anyways, when I want to make it run in testmode (in order to access ‘project’ and make my macbook understand that there is a OT/CF that it show on its desktop) nothing happens, it runs through a menu for a sec or 2 and comes back to the booting screen, blinking.
Resetting it, ain’t possible either. It just remains stuck on it!
I did go through several other posts in this forum, but I couldnt find a post which would be helpful to me situation and yes I did try out what I ve found in these posts : power off/on holding func or yes or no, with and without CF in it. Nada. Anyone?

So with the CF card removed you can’t successfully boot into and remain in test mode (hold only Fn down whilst powering on - don’t connect via usb or midi) ? That might point to a scenario that requires support to advise

During which process exactly? While OT was writing the new firmware?

Difficult to say. I thought the OT would have been through. But I cant see why else it should behave like that now…

Nope. I’ve tried it again. Card out. No cable whatsoever in. I power on with fn button pressed, of course it leads me immediately into the menu, where i confirm pressing 1. It goes again 1-2 seconds into test mode and back and blank screen it is.

are you sure that’s not just the test mode, if you press trig1 or trig2 does it toggle teh screen full-on full-off

the point i was trying to get to was - if you can reliably boot into test mode - then you have a conduit to updating opened - i’ve never updated this way, but the option is there to do a midi (DIN) update via that menu (not option 1)

do some browsing here of those terms - people have done that (i only update by dropping a .bin file on CF card root)

more details will help diagnose your options

As I put it before… i dont think so… when i open test mode, it opens a window for 1 sec which contains some RAM info (the screen which is mentionned in the manual p. 111/18.1) and disappears instantly, then I do get back into the, at least it looks like, the boot mode/window… the electron logo blinking on a black background. I mean it doesnt not lead to a point where I could get into ‘project’ in order to update it correctly, neither am I able to do anything else then hititng func (1.test m 2empty reset 5which it doesnt seem to do 3 midi upgrade 4 send upgrade 5 exit) very unfortunately…

I do not see such a thing…

so you get this menu and it doesn’t stay there ?? with the five options pending your pressing one of the 5 Trig Keys

if this page remains available after you press Fn whilst booting (and Nothing else subsequently) then you have options … potentially, via midi upgrade Trig option to correctly load the firmware using e.g. C6
