Strymon stereo mode

Does anyone know if i can use a strymon v2 pedal with the mono/stereo switch with the same Y cable for both modes? Or do i need change the cable everytime? Want to use it with a patchbay so the Y cable would always be connected to the pedal and then plug guitar in one of the 2 inputs on the patchbay and use strymon in mono mode and put both inputs when use a stereo synth, and switch the pedal to stereo

Tried ask in a guitar forum and a studio forum, but think its here i finally get an answer

If you connect a guitar (or any mono source) using stereo out mode, your output will only be on the left channel. The stereo output will only work if you have a stereo input.

Yeah but was wondering if can use the Y cable in mono mode so can have the pedal cable connected for both modes all the time on the patchbay, so one of the two parts of the y cable will not have any source, only be passively connected on the patchbay, ehen using guitar and if use my synths i can connect both parts

My guess would be with the selector switch is that when it is set to mono the pedal will only listen to signal coming on the tip and sleeve of the cable, regardless of having a TRS or TS jack plugged in.

On the other hand, having to flick the switch and do the line level to instrument level startup procedure on the pedal, it’s probably not too hard to also swap the input cable if you use an insert adapter rather than a long insert cable.

Use a splitter pedal with the guitar, so you can send the same signal into both tip and sleeve. Or better yet something like the TC Electronic Mimiq

If anyone ever wonder the same i asked strymon support and they said its needed change to a mono cable when use in mono mode and y cable only for stereo mode.
So need use 3 inputs on the patchbay and have the y cable and regular cable ends near the pedals for easy changing

Here is what I do with my Strymon Volante:

Synth mono out —> Radial StageBug6 mono in

Radial StageBug6 stereo out (i.e two ts cables connected), signal now doubled —> Patch bay stereo in

Patch bay stereo out —> Volante Stereo in (i.e two ts cables connected)

If I want to connect a stereo out synth I usually change the cables at the patch bay input point.

So in your case, this way you could probably keep the ts to trs break-out cable connected to your pedal with the patch bay and modify only at the patch bay input.
