Strom Integration/USB Interfaces

Hi gang, just wondering how people have Strom set up. I have an iRig, with my OP-1 going into the iRig. The output of the iRig goes into the RYTM. Problem is, when recording in STROM you cannot hear audio? So, the audio while playing and recording cannot be heard, only upon playback in Strom? Is there a way to get audio to pass through Strom and monitor recording, or is the idea to get an audio splitter and monitor through the Rytm. I guess the issue there is you could not hear back what you are editing in Strom. Hmmm.

interesting situation…! :joy:

the monitoring issue hasn’t popped up in beta testing, so it wasn’t on my radar… but would probably be good if I add a pass-thru option!

for now you’ll have to monitor the input to STROM some other way…

I’ve only tested with this USB audio interface, which has input monitoring built-in:

with a powered USB-hub, you can totally hook up an audio interface & the Rytm at the same time btw!

Audio-Pass through would be key! I would be forever grateful is it could be added! Was thinking about grabbing a cheap little interface, but would be nice if I could use what I already have. Probably a few Stromers with iRigs that would appreciate audio pass through. Thanks for the feedback Void!

gotcha…!

hm as a retribution, here’s how to resample what you’re playing:
hold down the REC button for a sec, where you can choose RESAMPLE as input.

Very cool! Thanks! That will be very useful!

Great, was wondering about that.

Not a Rytm user (yet?), but got the app. Very useful as a general sampler (esp. with live resampling). I like how it auto normalizes to make things quick, how easy it is to edit out portions etc. :+1:

Interested to hear how others are integrating storm into their rig from an audio point of view.

Anybody using the Behringer UCA202 with iPad and Strom. Looks like it has input monitoring and is pretty cheap! Any other cheaper suggestions? What are y’all using?

I use an Echo 2 for my iPad. It’s not cheap, but I think it’s decently priced for what you get, especially now after it has been discontinued (stores want to get rid of it).

It’s got two inputs, which can be changed between line/instrument/mic (with the option of using phantom power), and input levels can be set automatically.

There are four separate outputs, whereof two are the stereo mini headphones jack. This makes it quite flexible for routing audio, since you can route selected apps/tracks out and back in again (through hardware fx, Elektron boxes…), while having the complete mix on the other output pair.

All controls are on the box, which I like, and there’s a separate control for monitoring level.

Hey guys, I’ve tested it with a Focusrite iTrack Dock and unforunatley
it isn’t compatible, which is weird cause there is a usb port at the back of it…
But when they’re hooked up Strom doesn’t recognize the AR.

I think the irig2 can be used as well. Now with Monitoring output and pretty cheap.
I’ll try to hook up to an aux send on the mixer so I can dial in the sampling source as I like.
Should work?
Or do you guys think the soundquality would be better with a “real” audio interface?

Cheers

I recently aquired a NI Traktor Audio 6 and a USB3 hub, mainly for using DVS with iOS. Hooking up the soundcard, I have three spare USB ports for MIDI controllers. Gotta test it with AR & Strom as well!

Not sure if I can recommend the Traktor Audio 6 though, the highend sounds a bit strained to my ears  At least when compared to a mid-tier audiointerface like the UA Apollo

What pushes me towards the irig is that it has no need to be powered.
And I won’t need an usb hub
