Strange sequence or arp?

Hi,

All I’m a new to Elektron gear. As you might have guessed from the title of this topic. I’m getting to know the Analog Keys but have hit a wall with this…

When I press and hold any key on any track I get a what sounds like different sound to the one loaded playing a sequence or arp. This is the same when load new sounds to each track and a totally different kit. The strange sequence plays at the same time as the sound loaded to the track.

The sequencer is not playing and that the arp is off. The lights on the keys do not light up to indicate an arp is playing anyway. The problem is the same when it is not hooked up to any external gear. It was connected to a TT-303 MIDI out and Logic X via USB.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Charlie.

The sequencer is not playing and the arp is off, yet your AK is playing a sequence? I’d say send it in for repair!

That sounds very weird. Try doing a factory reset but back up all of your data first.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. I guess I’m on my own with this problem. I’ve done a factory reset to no avail. I contacted elektron Support on Sunday. So far a response. Here is a link to video I made of the problem. Any other ideas of what the fault is. Is most welcome.

Thanks,
Charlie.

this sounds like the cutoff of one of the filters is being modulated by either sequencer locks or a random LFO.

you say it’s happening with all kits, so probably not a stray performance macro… but imo double-check on this nonetheless.

factory reset and recalibration and it’s still doing it (and nothing is hooked up to it)?

that would be one for the wall of weird

They’ll get back to you eventually. I imagine they are swamped with all the AR business.

Did you run the test mode as well? Any errors?

If you create a new project does it persist? Although I know you’ve already tried a reset.

This problem I am please to say is now solved. I started a new Logic X session and re-entered set the Key’s as individual external instruments match the MIDI channels for each track. Set up the clock on Logic and the Key’s. The problem is now gone. So it must have been some sort of clock issue with Logic.

The weirdest bit is I’m sure the problem was happening without the USB connection or any MIDI previously. Anyway I’m pleased it is fixed am left with that unsatisfied feeling of never really knowing what the problem was. At least I learned how to test the hardware and reset the Keys.

Thank you for everyone’s help.

Looking forward to getting to grips with this brilliant music making tool.
