Okay, so how can I solder a big ass +drive into this thing with USB3 speed? Just tried to transfer stuff over and realized the transfer is over 2GB and I won‘t have any space left and it takes ages. Am I doomed to only use 100 kb samples?
Your 2gb may fit. I have some long samples that were about 900mb before transfer but ended up consuming under 300mb of drive space. After transfer does its thing the size of the file ends up being 96kb a second.
Also, werent you asking about the ot in another thread? Wouldn’t it ultimately be easier to run longer samples on that.
oh, okay… so it‘s compressing the samples? Yeah, of course I could use the OT …was just transfering a few sample pack folders onto it to test the DT.
Converting to mono, and (when applicable) reducing bit depth to 16bit / sample rate to 48khz.
There is no chance to replace the +drive (which are essentially just some chips on the board) with something larger. It is completely hard wired with no standard plug’n’play interface.
you mean 44,1 I suppose… but yeah - ofc it‘s a mono machine - I almost forgot about it! So I better do that upfront, right? Using Myriad for sample wrangling and it might have a better algo for that maybe. Should have thought about that earlier when I converted all the samples from 24 to 16 bit 44,1kHz
A SMD hot air solder station is on its way! A SD card slot would have been nice… but well don‘t get me started. Minimalism!
No.
The Digitakt plays back 48khz samples. Mono, 16bit.
Same as Analog Rytm.
This information is in the manual…

Oh… why is it 48kHz?
The sampling is a port of the Analog Rytm sample section, which is also 48khz.
Are you sure you want to just solder a new chip in?
Have you thought this through? What about formatting the +Drive? Bios? Firmware? Warranty voidance, Etc.
Also, a new +Drive isn’t going to give you “USB 3 speed”.
That would require a new USB controller, at minimum, and perhaps new internal bus hardware at worse.
that was a joke. If I knew how to I‘d be working for elektron and design new boxes with 64GB internal supercharged storage!
Which of your questions are serious, and which are jokes?
This is a forum designed to help people who are in need of help, and it is frankly a waste of time for many who are trying to be helpful, or steer you away from a mistake, when it is unclear as to the intent of your post.
Please advise.
if there was a hack I would have probably done it. And the smd hot air station is on its way - that was not a joke. That is why I had this idea …
