It also has a fantastic minimalist score by David Julyan. I really like his stuff (his album Hireth was a rare highlight from last year for me), and I have this perhaps romantic notion that Nolan should have stuck with him in a Spielberg-Williams / Lynch-Badalamenti etc. kind of way. I don’t have anything against Hans Zimmer’s stuff, and actually really like some of his scores (this was discussed recently on a thread on here recently somewhere), but I think there was something a bit more special somehow with the combination of visuals and music in Following, Memento and The Prestige.
