Hello, does anyone know how I might fix a CF card eject button that doesn’t return to its pressed in state when the CF card is inside the Octatrack? Everything functions fine with the CF card and I can eject it with the button but it just doesn’t return to its ‘home’ position. I could definitely not be bothered about this if I didn’t plan to move my Octatrack around a lot. I’m concerned it’s only a matter of time before it snags on something and breaks every time I move it around!
Hi,
You might be able to fix it but you’d have to open the machine and it might be broken broken and need actual repair and not just reattaching a spring or something easy. In that case it would depend on your own skill level or willingness to send it in for repair.
If it’s still under warranty they might fix it for free but I don’t know, you’d need to confirm the warranty status using the build date on the bottom.
Anything can be fixed, but it’s impossible to know the level of difficulty for this repair without getting a better look at the mechanism to know why it won’t retract.
If you want to talk to elektron, fill out the contact form from within your account on elektron.se and tell them what’s going on.
Good luck.
lol the button won’t stay retracted - tape won’t keep it in because when the CF card is inserted the button doesn’t retract without ejecting the card!!
Hey thanks for taking the time to write this reply. Much appreciated. ![]()
Have you tried another CF card?
It’s the eject button - when the CF card is removed it still doesn’t return to a retracted state. The mechanism appears to be broken.
Ah i see. Sounds like the spring has gone on it. Or the clip that holds the spring.
Remove the card, press in the button, secure the button with tape, and insert the card.
The button ejects the card when retracted. Can’t be forced to stay down - the card won’t go in if I force it to stay in. I guess the whole mechanism just needs replacing.
Oh sorry, I totally misread what the issue was.
In this video, you can see the card reader in more detail.
It may be possible to repair it without replacing it.
I would simply unscrew the housing.
…But I wouldn’t dare to replace the card reader myself.
Elektron also repairs on request. Perhaps that’s a viable solution.
Otherwise:
If the device works, just leave the pin sticking out and be a little more careful when handling it. ![]()
Clearly the most detailed advice yet. 🫶🏻
Yeah thanks for this. Probably better to just leave it lol. 🫶🏻
Just got this problem myself, has there been any progress in terms of a simple fix?
Hello my friend, no easy fix, mine was still under warranty so sent it back for a new eject mechanism. The whole process was surprisingly smooth and Elektron repaired it within about 6 weeks. If it’s not under warranty then you could buy a new CF card reader eject mechanism from Elektron and try and install yourself. Let me know if you need anymore details.
