Stem-chains trick

Yea. I use a flex resampling/slicing track for transitions and to do similar things as you described. It’s one of the reasons I want a 2nd Octatrack

One of the reasons I am chopping and segmenting in the DAW is to make sure I’ve got everything lined up properly, since I mix this content with other loops, hits, and live input of MIDI synchronized synths.

There are a few ways to get it done, and a few ways to set up your chain in the end. It all depends on what you want to do with the material, so best to take the path that is best for you.
I’m still faster with Ableton than anything else, and I can make busy work out of just taking old session on my laptop and turning them into stem-chains while we’re watching a documentary or something.

Yeah, I totally get that. Thanks for inspirations. Breaking things up in Ableton would be a much easier affair… And documentaries are nice.
