Static sample loop chains?

Hi. I am not with my octatrack at the moment but I am thinking about different ways to use it at live performances would this be possible and is someone using it?:

[ol]
[li]I create a drumloop on my Analog rytm and samples in to an ableton clip 1-4 bars long[/li]
[li]I do variations on this loop, with and without certain elements and sample into Ableton clips same length.[/li]
[li]When i have say 16 variations (probably not so many) I put them in arrangement view and create a sample chain but with loops, like people do with single cycle waveforms[/li]
[li]Imports the long wav to Octatrack and put it in a static machine and slice it to 16 slices[/li]
[li]Trig the slices in slice mode.[/li]
[/ol]

If that works it seems to be super easy to switch between different variations with only the press of a button or is there any aspect i have missed here? Anyone using this technique

I don’t know Ableton Live but what you are proposing is standard practice.

See this thread for a bunch more ideas:

Great. I feel silly. I am digging into Elektronauts every day and have missed this. The OT is deeep.
