Nevermind, I understand now that all the Static machines of a new empty project are indeed assigned to specific empty static sample slots. So, Track 1 of every Part in every Bank is assigned to Static sample slot 1. Once you assign a sample to slot 1 it is then assigned to every Static machine on Track 1 of every Part in every Bank… unless, of course, you change the slot assignment in any given Static Machine.
I’d like it better if the slot assignments were Null to start with.
