Wanted to mention a small attention to detail, non-relative to sound. The startup lights on Elektron devices.
I have the MKI dark trinity, with the Analog Four being the new addition last week. I loved the Octatrack and Analog Rytm’s startup light show. It’s just small detail, but the work that went into it is definitely a labor of love. Starting up the devices and seeing the lights made my days that much brighter.
Then I noticed that the A4 doesn’t light up like the OT or AR, which was a small let down. I just expected it to do the same thing, but when you think of it, the A4’s buttons don’t have so much color when compared to the other two, so it is understandable that this was skipped.
Also, I had the AR MKII for a short period, and noticed it doesn’t do the start up light thingy. So I was surprised when I found out later that the AR MKI did this. Like, this may be the only feature present on the AR MKI and not the MKII. It made me a little sad that the tradition(?) died down through iteration, but then again, it’s completely unrelated to sound synthesis, so it is understandable.
This might have been discussed way back, but I couldn’t find anything through a quick search, so I decided to post this and bring attention to this wonderful detail.
I love the start up lights on the OT & AR MKI !
