Standalone Maschine+

Might take a while though, I need to renovate my project studio before I’ll have room for it. Currently, my two “master keyboards” over there are Roland JD-XA and AK, and no room for a KK MK3…

So with Tonverk out, anyone with M+ lusting after the new Elektron flagship? I’m typically on auto-buy for anything Elektron brings to market, but I can’t see what Tonverk brings to the table if you already have an M+. Perhaps more sophisticated modulation, sequencing? More processing power for dynamic sample mangling? For those who are opting for Tonverk, what’s drawing you in?

For me, I feel like the features and capabilities, the complexity & workflow hit would be a step back. Maybe im missing something.

My TV arrives tomorrow or friday at the latest. I will of course be comparing some of its aspects to M+

At the moment, I would not recommend jumping on a TV unless you want an unfinished product. Give it at least 6 months to mature, there are speculation that it was rushed to market because Akai is about to reveal a new generation of MPCs very soon…

Speaking of which, I’ve been reading the Tonverk thread where people are trying to figure out how to convert/import commercial multi-sample libraries into Tonverk…

Is there a way to do this is Maschine?? As in, instead of using the Maschine multi-sampler is there a way to successfully import pre-existing multi-sampled instruments in, in a way that Maschine will read properly as one of its own multi-samplers?

This is a topic best asked at NI forums I think. People there, such as D One should be able to tell immediately if such tools exist…

You can use also Kontakt 6 patches (assuming you have a Kontakt 6 licence), and there are a lot of apps that convert stuff to Kontakt format. I have personally not used the Maschines internal multisampler, I much prefer using Kontakt if I want a more complex sampler patch on the M+, since Maschine multisampler doesnt even support round robin samples

I’m not throwing shade at the TV. But until I see some folks taking it to the next level, I can’t see a justification for it in my setup. Between owning the M+, damn near every SP, KOII, and P-6, I just can’t see it helping me much. I am very curious what’s down the pipeline for that form factor though.

Yeah, I tried asking over there and it was absolute crickets.

I would have thought someone would have figured out how to do this by now! I mean, I have Kontakt and I get that you can just open these libraries in Kontakt. But that is also a lot more resource-hungry especially when talking about the M+…it would be awesome to be able to just use them as multi-sampled instruments instead and cut Kontakt out of the equation if need be.

Thanks anyway! Hopefully someone else here knows something

Is Kontakt really that resource hungry though? The first instance always bumps up the CPU, but like Reaktor, subsequent instances seem to cause much less CPU load. Mind you, I’m only using patches I’ve made myself for the most part, which are purpose built to be as “lean” as possible

Hi, I created my competition entry with Maschine for the big synthesizer contest organized by Keyboards magazine. Please give it a like so I might finally win something. Best regards, and here’s the link:

Seeing as how the newest leak of the MPC Live 3 looks more AI than the AI leaks, I’m even more pleased with my M+.

Yeah. It’s ugly as hell.
Maschine is still the best designed, best looking groove box. And I still love its workflow.

The only thing that tempts me away from my M+ is the Push 3 SA, but that’s an expensive thing to try out without knowing if it’ll do what I need. I also think it looks like IKEA designed it.

:joy:

I’ve never got an Ikea vibe, but kinda get it… it’s like the fake furniture/devices they use in Ikea show spaces.

I really prefer Maschine+ as a controller for Maschine, than in standalone.
I find, as an Ableton user, that I mainly use my Push 3SA in a similar way (…mainly in controller mode), but it is really good.

I only see the IKEA look with pictures of the unit not powered up. I’ve never seen a 3 IRL so it could just be low res photos.

I’ve thought about getting the controller version, but I have a weird aversion to having to use my computer. Don’t get me wrong. I am not attempting a “dawless” setup. I just like to be able to turn on a couple power switches and start writing. Waiting for random updates or turning things on in the wrong order and the handshake is incorrect so the interface doesn’t show up is wildly frustrating to me. I never use my M+ in controller mode since I sequence so much external gear.

I have been mulling over the idea of making adjustments on my MioXM so the computer sends midi to the hardware instead of the M+ sending midi. Kind of as a Push 3 test run. It hurts my brain thinking about it though. Haha!

I have one and it’s cool but until it boots up you lose your mood. Also the battery is a bit poor.

But… it’s FULL Ableton in a box

This is me too.
With the Push 3, I have it routed so my main mixer goes out to its inputs so I can switch it on and grab ideas fast (I have my SP404mk2 before it too, and do the same with this), but I think standalone use accounts for less than 20% of my time on it.

I’d say with Maschine+, I’m less than 10% (I much prefer the feel of the Plus as a controller though (over the standard black one)).

I know I’m gonna end up getting one. Just don’t have the funds yet.

Between the TR-1000 and the Live 3 my M+ is giving me sad puppy dog eyes. I haven’t bought either of them, but I’m saving up. I really wish NI would implement PolyAT.

I have a feeling its coming… but NI is glacially slow at introducing new stuff to Maschine, unfortunately… I hear rumours of a new MPE enabled synth is on the way though, coming out within the next 2 months…

I know my obsession with aftertouch seems minuscule, but I love my polyAT synths and it’s like they’ve been cut off at the knees.
