That’s the ideal situation. The reality is that you could hit a severe bug like “Oh, the installer deletes the user’s presets” or “Oops we shipped it with non-working DRM” or “If the user installs this below a certain storage threshold that we didn’t calculate for, it bricks the unit”. Stuff like that. Most bugs are not “please cancel your family trip to the theme park and drive to work immediately” tier, but it’s always better to hold off and launch on Monday. The next weekend can be the bug report harvest
I actually completely forget which Unfiltered plugin gave me this hard lesson. I think it was Instant Delay that launched on a Friday with a major DRM bug that locked users out, but this was pre-kids and pre-pandemic, so it’s all mush.
the build server is the server that compiles the code into an actual release. NI devs can make dev builds on their machines, and it sounds like that’s working fine, but cutting a release-ready production build (especially for firmware) requires running a ton of complex processes and automated tests. fixing the build server is faster and easier than trying to recreate the build environment somewhere else.
and yeah, as others have mentioned, releasing on friday is bad practice for many reasons and most competent shops will have a policy against it.
Check your Maschine+ - the 1.6.1 update should now be available. This update appears to add 5 effects to M+: Bite, Choral, Dirt, Freak, Flair. I’m not sure if it was always there, but I noticed an option to select Sample Rate & Buffer size in Audio Settings.
I’m holding on to the hope to see Replika in the future, perhaps with the 3.0 release! I’m super excited to get some more Distortion & Modulation options! While it’s got decent delays on board, I really love the sound of Replika/Replika XT.
The extra FX added in just ups the M+'s game as an external FX processor. I watched Jef Gibbons video on it where he makes a great point about Maschine Plus use as an external, modular FX box : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gMyChcezHU
I’d love to see more creative options emerge in the future for performance effects. Not really needed because I can use MC-707 scatter or SP404MKII for that. It’s just a chore sometimes to get them hooked up, so I end up not doing it.
Yes just realised that the update does not give you these FX, it simply allows them to be used in Maschine +. You have to purchase these FX if you don’t already own them.
So this is not financial advice, but … I purchased a second hand Maschine Mikro MK3 recently for $99 from Guitar Center (feels like a common resale price). NI helped to transfer the license from the original owner and a nice little Easter Egg appeared in my inbox: a welcome to Maschine Mikro message, along with a $25 voucher and a claim code for a copy of NI Komplete 15 Select. The Komplete 15 Select “Beats” actually comes with 3 of these 5 effects (Dirt, Bite, Freak). If you’re in the market for a Mikro (which is a good controller when you want to use a laptop/desktop Maschine), this might be a way to add some sounds & 3 of the 5 effects. For me this was total overlap as I’m an Komplete 14 CI user, so all of these were already there. But if you’re not, for the price of NI Komplete Select, you could get a hardware controller.
For everyone who are looking to purchase new effects: yesterday I purchased all mod and crush pack together for 20$ on knobcloud.com , and successfully activated and installed them on M+.
