Standalone Maschine+

nervous-lmao

Microtiming and velocity. Not having to work in 16 step increments. Easier scene changes.

For me, its the combined workflow which makes it all worthwhile. The legato switching patterns and scenes, which allow me to create super intricate flips in realtime. The ease of duplicating and creating variations of a pattern. The fully tactile UI which is embedded into my muscle memory like an Elektron box. The ability to plug in a footswitch and using the sequencer like a looper (by overdubbing on the fly). The superb groove engine, which allows exotic swings per pad as well as per group. it all adds up to a system with impressive amount of QOL things inside, makes writing ideas down fast and fun.

Does one really need probability trigs when your pattern can be stupidly long? I personally mostly use conditrigs on my Elektrons in order to overcome the 64 step limit of a pattern… No such limits on the M+

I’m totally agree with you

yeah being able to quickly duplicate pad/pattern/scene is huge

have been using an MPC Live 2 recently where it seems the only way to duplicate a sequence is to navigate to specific edit menu via the touch screen and then rename/confirm it, a flow interruption IMO (and same if duplicating bars working in a single sequence)

I miss my M+ so much, really need to send it to NI to get repaired. :frowning:

It really is THE groovebox that gels with me. I love other pieces of gear (TR-8S and Virus TI2) especially) but the M+ is the desert island device.

Here’s a simple question. Apologies in advance as I could probably watch a 20 minute Youtube video on this, but a single sentence here would probably suffice…

How easy is it to migrate a M+ standalone project into the software?

i.e. for final recordings it would make sense to do it inside Ableton, how easy is the migration from standalone to plugin?

As far as I recall, standalone to plugin just works - everything is laid out in the plugin the same as it was in the hardware.

Each Group on M+ can have its own pattern length, easily settable by the PATTERN area’s Start and End values. Yes, those values are set with a knob, but I think you can have them to snap to values like 16th notes or bars, etc.

Is anybody using the Maschine plus as a performance mixer type thing? I’m currently jamming in to ableton with an AR and a Moog Labyrinth. I use Ableton FX an record the audio as I perform. Is it possible to do something similar on Maschine? In other words, can you record multiple audio inputs at the same time and for 5-10 mins?

The Maschine+ only has one set of inputs, so the only way I could see this working is by routing everything from a mixer into the Maschine+.

Can you not hook up an audio interface?

Yes, you can. I’ve got a behringer 1820 working quite well. Live input processing works… okay(latency is cpu-use variable and is hard to compensate for, especially with rhythmic elements) but I’m not sure how well multi-track recording works

It’s no octatrack replacement if that’s what you’re after

Maschine+ can be an awesome performance mixer for up to 8 input channels…I’ve gotten stable results with both my RME multi-channel interface and a Behringer X32 Rack. Multitrack recording directly into Maschine+ is not possible, because the Sampling feature selects only a single mono or stereo input. But if you get a compatible class-compliant USB interface which has multitrack recording onto removable media, that would solve it. Behringer X32 platform has a cool expansion card which allows for multitrack recording onto USB stick. It’s quite a bit of setup, but then you’re 100% laptop free.

Also, a Tascam Model 12 and Maschine+ is a dope combo. Both units complement each other beautifully. Wish I still had room for it at my home rig sometimes…

Hi,
There is a new custom chords mode now for maschine mk3.
But it is not possible to enter the chords by a midi keyboard.
Does anybody know a way to input the chords for the chordset by a keyboard instead of the pads?

Anyone else with this firmware issue? (Maschine version 0.1.6)
Maschine plus with wifi and update check = No updates found.
MaschinePlus_Firmware_0.1.9_Updater_100_Win = Firmware 0.1.6 found update your firmware.

This is intentional. M+ OS updates can be downloaded and isntalled over wifi; Updating the M+ firmware however requires using a computer. These two updates are totally different from one another - firmware updates the device firmware, OS updates update the linux OS of the device (and all apps)

Updating the M+ firmware to 0.1.9 is highly recommended, it greatly inproves MIDI clock sync among other things

When might a Maschine+2 hardware come out?

One powerful enough to handle Kontakt or Massive X etc.

They can call it Maschine X.

From what I’ve heard most folks assume there won’t be a M+2, but that is just assumptions.
