Stacking parts, no wait, impossible?

Finally getting somewhere with my ”practical OT” studies, this one got me hitting the wall:

Is there no way to stack the effect of parts like one can stack scenes? I’d like to build a ”MIDI template” using a part, as to be able to copy this part later to any bank I might need it in, but this ”template” part will ALWAYS overwrite my sampler side configs as well?

Any ideas of practical solutions would be much appreciated.

It would really be wonderful if there was a way to prevent a part from affecting selected parameters somehow… This is super easy with scenes as they only change the params you program into them, not everything.

There is no way to do this besides copying each individual MIDI track. I asked about this a few weeks ago.

Damn, that’s what I feared. thanks anyway.

So this means that I have to always start a new bank with a copy of the ”MIDI template” part, and only then add the audio side configs to the part(s). Not ideal but I guess its the only way.

Yup. It sucks.

I wish there was a way to copypaste the ”entire sampler setup” and ”entire MIDI setup” with some hotkeys… something like MIDI + rec/play/stop to copypaste all MIDI settings… I generally feel like the OT is inherently schitzofrenic wrt how separated the sampler and the MIDI modes are from each other… But they still obey the same pattn/part paradigms? while ignoring all else… why?!

You can (super)manage your parts with it? Sounds great but I don ’t have a computer at my elektron rig. But I’ll look into it.

Yeah Octaedit. In fact - Octaedit 2!

I don’t even know when I’ll receive it.
I suppose OctaEdit can do that. @Rusty?

Probably yes

I’ll answer in more detail later / after work.

If octaedit has features for combining aspects of parts from existing ones into new combinations, this will be most interesting!

Short version: Yes, can do all that and much, much more.

Long Version: I’ll explain more / in detail when I get home from work.

OctaEdit’s Library module is essentially a preset manager on steroids, and provides a library of “Entries” for the various elements of both OctaEdit and the Octatrack, where literally anything can be copied, pasted, saved and loaded between Sets and Projects.

Save your Project setups, Machine configurations, LFO Designs, Parts, Scenes, FX Chains etc. from any Set and any Project and reuse them as required whenever, and wherever you want.

All of the below Elements can be freely copied/pasted; saved to, and loaded from the Library from their respective locations in OctaEdit.

Does the above answer your question?

Yes, to the extent that I will be buying a licence, even if I never end up using the computer with my OT :nyan:
