Wow, that’s all they need, updates gonna be even slower now
Looks like a deliberate attack to me…
Oh boy, that’s bad.
Just checked the Squarp forum…yikes! I wonder who would target a company like this…so strange and unsettling.
Hapax forever!
squarp forum being down makes me sad.
Agreed.
It is a bad Sequentix trick for sure !
It seems to be all right now.
Update on my syncing issues:
I tested extensively today with an empty Live project - the Hapax syncs absolutely perfectly. Left it running for hours and it was perfectly in time (using audio syncing from a Mac to the Hapax).
I recorded throughout… it was literally hitting the grid in the same place from beginning to end.
Very impressed, and is now pretty much conclusive that my syncing issues are caused by buffer over-runs caused by high CPU usage!
Long live the Hapax!
Included:
- New FXs
- Drum transposition per step
- A new Algo
- Quantized Recording
- Bugfixes
New FXs are :
a Turing machine
a Scaler to change the range + curve of params or pitch
a poly arp/seq
New algo : shuffle (shuffle notes in several ways)
Awesome!
I had been hoping we’d see the drum lanes finally expand to 16. Fingers crossed that this is still in the works.
Worth mentioning 2.10 is Beta currently!
Right ! I edited my post.
Squarp always deliver!
Drum pitching per step was a major request and probably the single thing that kept me craving for an Oxi One.
Also the new FXs/Algo seems really cool and quantized recording just one of the few QoL bits still missing.
A wonderfull sequencer that keeps getting better and better
What an update. I know it’s only the first beta, but I’m super excited to check it out. Looper auto-length in steps (vs bars) is something I and another pal had requested, so I’m quite happy to see its addition.
I’m also quite excited about the attention to mono. The Mono mode and Mono effect should make using the CV outputs a much more pleasant experience. Love seeing a SH101 style way of sequencing added.
All of the new FX look fantastic. Curious about Shaper - I wonder if we would be able to add slew to incoming signals this way. This is something I’ve wanted for a long time, so fingers crossed.
Truly awesome.
Not at all (or I don’t get what you mean by “slew”). I would have called it “SCALER” as it scales a range of value to another range with a specific curve.
It is extremely useful. (But leads to a lot of stuck notes currently, and they are aware of it)
Appreciate the response, that clears up what Shaper is. I suppose they couldn’t call it “Scaler” considering the note quantizer FX is already called “Scaler”. Good to know about the bugs. Do you still get stuck notes if using it on MIDI CCs or other automation for example?
By “slew”, I meant a way to limit the rate of change between two values-basically a way to do glide or portamento if it were being used with notes at the input. Now that I understand what Shaper does, my question of slew is pretty off haha.
Fair enough !
Didn’t test (I’m on tour with a very limited setup) but I suspect it’s only due to the way it deals with notes off. It should be ok with other messages. Keeping track of notes on when the note on / note offs pairs change whil a note is being held is always tricky.
It’s also very tricky, if not impossible with a sequencer, as with midi the only way is to use PB messages, but you’d have to define the PB range according to the distance between two consecutive notes. It’s not going to happen if you want my opinion. It’s something you do on synths, not on sequencers.
Ah, that makes a lot of sense. No wonder we haven’t seen it (and that the new SH-101-style sequencer mode doesn’t have slides).
I suppose my main reason for wanting a “slew” would actually be for MIDI CCs. The idea would be to slow down and lag incoming MIDI CC movements from a MIDI controller. I saw that the LightReft Monolit has something like that (video here-the time lag control is shown at 9:26). Not sure how that could be implemented on Hapax though. I’ve been spoiled with CV control
Uhhhh!!! This will unlock new worlds between the Hapax and my Octatrack, finally those two will make a meaningful pairing for me…wonderful addition, thank you Squarp!
