Sadly, the project scale function also disables a row if it uses less than 8 notes per octave in the scale.
It also doesn’t allow you to scroll up and down with the upper left encoder (like you can with pScale disabled), but instead you have to use the arrow buttons to move up and down whole octaves. The lowest row is always the root note of the scale.
To me, this defeats the whole purpose of using scales, which for me is: hiding notes I don’t use for this melody anyway, so I can see more of it in one view.
So I suggested to squarp to allow scrolling up and down and always enable all rows, just add notes of the next octave.
I also suggested a “fold” feature, like in Ableton.
I have a new use case to sequence 12 notes per step, which I find I can only do in software because my hardware sequencers all max out at 8 or less. In Hapax’s Step mode, what’s the maximum number of notes you can sequence per step?
Not sure how many notes the max is, but you can EASILY record more than 12 notes per step. All of the Hapax’s track are polyphonic, so you’d have 32 tracks of polyphony. Even if you’d encounter a limit within a single track (which I doubt), you could then just add a second track to that and so on.
It really is one of the most powerful hardware sequencers out there.
Hapax is turning into a real powerhouse. It has slowly replaced a bunch of stuff in my setup, most recently my E-RM multiclock since it is now able to do the exact same thing (through the cv in and the new adjustable latency compensation). Great update!
Anyone know if poly aftertouch recording is supported on Hapax?
I know it was removed a year or so back because it was buggy, but haven’t seen any mention of it since and have no way to test this without a poly AT controller
