Allow Spotify Connect only from local network

It is requested to allow to restrict playback via Spotify Connect to Apps that are in the same (local) network as the playback device. Details: Spotify Connect allows to use the Spotify App to playback music on devices like Wireless...

Does anyone else think this is quite a serious issue? Isn’t this also an invasion of privacy (of sorts)?

It is a thing that you are currently able to connect to any Spotify Connect-enabled speaker over the Internet if you have previously been connected to it over wifi - I found out the hard way by accidentally playing some music at a friends house.

That prompted me to look for a way to disable this behavior, which led me to the linked post above.

Ahh yeah, I misread it as asking for the feature, rather than asking for it to be disabled.

If I turn off my phones wifi Spotify doesn’t give me any options to connect to network devices, and I don’t have the ‘show local devices only’ setting switched on.

I have three different Spotify Connect devices - if I turn off wifi on my phone, I can still connect to two of them; the only one I cannot connect to is also a Google Cast device, so maybe that one utilizes some (local network only) Google Cast protocol rather than Spotify’s own? (All three devices are from the same manufacturer.)
