It’s an entry level percussion oriented box that packs a lot of power and fun at that price point. If they would have put another LFO it would have been a bit too powerful to consider their more expensive range from a marketing perspective.

Don’t see the issue that their aren’t that many preset included either. You have to leave some room for people to explore the engines as well. If not, buy a preset pack.

With the Tranfer app it is possible to share presets and kits quite easily so I don’t really see any smoke here.

What I hope Elektron considers building their next mid or high tier box is daring to go back to their roots as they have explored with Cycles.

Engine based synthesis, ctrl all functionality, extensive synth modulation and more sequencing modulation (slide function). That’s what makes the MD, MnM and Cycles great IMO.

The immediacy of the curated synth engines, as a start point, with the possibility to tweak them into something completely different that makes these boxes rewarding and a lot of fun. It makes you focus more on the composition than on sound design which should be the end goal of any musical instrument.

What I would like to see more of is the option to apply music theory. Cycles chord machine gives you chord options with inversions but it would be great to see suggestions of which chord progressions goes well together based on what you have entered on a track.

This would be a great thing to see in some current boxes as well. Different scales for AR would be amazing for the dual VCO and melodic samples. As is the chromatic mode on the pads makes it hard to get a feel for what’s where.

…it looks like a takt…but it’s not…
…it has the same formfactor, but it has a brushed silver finish…and an orange/red oled display…
…says something like machinery on it’s frontpanel…
…it has 16 engines/machines to choose from…a various little collection of digisynth algorithm models on their own…some of those names sound weird…some pretty familiar…
…sid, kick, sn, voice, chord, clap, buzz, metal, ring…well, u name it…u pick what u want…
…what is this…?..ah, the return off all the old swedish cult machines at once…
combined in one new little monsta machine…
and with every next update, u might get, from time to time, a few more new weird little sound machines added to ur cult collection…
that’s a killer product…and it will come…

…to be filled by various sound engines…those from machinedrum…those from monomachine…
also the sid…
and also various further fx engines and synth algos u’ve never heard of…
each slot/track has two inner fx slots…
but u could also use fx engines as track/sound sources…yeah, we’re talking neighbour trax here…
while u also got 16 miditracks…including arp and key settings for all…

slim fresh coding on the exact, already existing basic hardware setup of a digitone…
do it, sweden, just do it…that’s THE product u can sell for years to come…

While a big advocate for a MKIII / Digidrum, I wouldn’t be disappointed if Elektron released a Model:P-I/GND hybrid.

I just recently got a model cycles. And while the concerns I had prior are there in regards to limited sound design, the form factor of the machine is still a step forward for elektron boxes.

I would love for them to:

continue with the machine music making method
combine the model parameter layout with deeper sound design possibilities

Yip needs an FM into bit reduction machine for robotic percussion, and at least a master plockable filter pre reverb and delay…

also a few dual osc engines with various ways of cross modulating the oscs, (phase, fold, sum, subtract)

Alot of what I’m hearing now all sounds like a remix of the same song…so surely if Elektron are never planning on a MKIII for a machine drum some of the ideas could be flicked over to the cycles…

I’m sure I’m dreaming though.
