My DAC only has digital inputs, so I connect my Syntakt through a A/D converter and I don‘t notice any latency, so it should be totally ok for just looking at the „sound“.
I use a cheap Swissonic thing from Thomann, works perfectly.
I don’t use it live - but it can take in audio sources. I don’t use it in such a way so I can’t recommend it, but seems like it can be. My use is as a plugin on my DAW.
