Sorry, i miss it
And this one…![]()
You could route the audio into the Syntakt, then record the stereo from the Syntakt into your DAW.
You can take audio out from the Ambient and have it go into Syntakt for possibly further FX processing and mixing with the Syntakt sound before it all goes to headphones or DAW. The cable you will need is a 1/8" (3.5mm) TRS stereo to dual 1/4" (6.3mm) TS mono. I am not sure if going the other way is possible (probably not, and it will be easier this way anyway).
Well, i already have a bunch of material that offers me long hours of drones in various tendencies.
But, i don’t have a specific self containing drone gear. Recently, I have looked to Oneiroi, Stylophone and few other ones.
Always tempted by new iteration. There are so much of them.
Here we have differents layers, polyphonie, all in little box that can be nomade… appealling.
I will wait for more user review
Sounds perfect.
The Ambient hasn’t arrived yet but if you have any recommendations of the type of cable I need and which slot on each synth to connect to, I would be very grateful.
Yes, I assumed into the Syntakt was the most sensible way round. This is brilliant advice that even I can follow. Thanks a million. I might be back if I get stuck when the Ambient arrives!
You’ll need a Y splitter with a stereo mini jack on one end and 2 quarter inch jacks on the other.
Following up to that mini album, Sonic Cartography just did a talky video explaining how he went about using the SLAØ as a more conventional non-ambient sort of synth for that mini album.
Powerful inexpensive synth ( groovebox ? ) for sure.
Nice video that shows a little more than classic use of this box. Cool work, thanks to this guy.
Because of the work this guy made, i’m less tempted, GAS decreased. I found that sounds are not so reach than i thought.
In fact, the vallue of this synth, imho, is relative to the structure and the possibilities of it. 4 tracks and independant lfo and enveloppes.
So, i go back to my case and synths, for the moment, realising that playing this synth in forest or mountain was more a phantasm than a reality i wanted…
… Until next gas on this really well priced synth regarding to it’s nice possibilities.
I’ve been running the Ambient 0 through the SP 404 MKII and adding some drum loops. Despite some frustrations with the differences from the elektron sequencer, i really like this thing. The three synth tracks have been very fun to mess around with. The noise/sample track adds some fun possibilities. It’s also made me mess with Lfo’s more due to a lack of menu diving, so that’s been fun
Can’t seem to find the info in the manual, can presets be loaded through midi program changes ?
Thanks for this clear explanation. Would this work the same way with the Ambient 0 and a Digitakt?
Yes.
Welcome to the forum!
really nice! what are the strings? samples? they’re pleasantly seamless! i also dig the stars of the lid vibe. based on my impression of you loving SOTL, my only humble suggestion: utilise “silence”. if they mastered one thing, that’s definitely tasteful usage of silence (or so quiet that it’s almost silent)
Thanks so much! Really appreciate your kindness. I’m away from my Ambient0 until tomorrow, so I need to double check, but I’m fairly certain the strings were a synth engine in the Pads section (bank 2).
And thank you—I will absolutely try to incorporate silence in future ambient jams.
Okay! I checked the manual and it seems I was right—the strings are in “layer 2” which is made up of the “blendwave modulation synth”. The only samples I used were the ocean preset on the noise layer (you can hear the sample most prominently at the very end of the song.
Thanks again for taking the time to listen and give feedback. I love SOTL very deeply (I was playing them for my wife’s labor and the birth of my daughter) and your words made my day.
thanks very much for checking it! glad to hear it’s a synth engine! i’ll receive my unit next week so i have one more reason to be hyped now!
You’re gonna love it. The Ambient0 has some detractors (someone put it as one of their misses this year), but for me it’s been my favorite new kit in a long time. Enjoy my friend!

i can understand because i have lofi 12 xt, and it’s UX is very… bad actually. lots of unconventional ways of handling stuff and i feel like that’s their general approach in all sonicware products, so i’m sort of prepared. hopefully i can endure
I feel you. I haven’t even touched the sequencer, just love to use the hold function to create drones and then live jam on the different layers, which is pretty instantly gratifying. It’s a great way to zen back out if you get frustrated.
