I just received it, I will test it at the end of the week

Incredible packaging!
That is pretty awesome packaging.
That does look great. I’m more tempted than I was before just because of the packaging-man I’m fickle!!!
I got mine yesterday. Packaging is nice… machine on first play is interesting. Still wrapping my head around the device, and the sonic ware ways of doing things(as this is first device from them)
Quick review… Nice sound… interesting range, feels super cheap… but it is. Seem like they spent the R&D on the internals not externals(which is the right way)… Speaker is nice but also total crap so worthless. I like it and it should add a nice bit of sonic platte to my drone setup, if it was more than $250 I wouldn’t touch it though.
It does not make me want any of their other boxes, but I am happy with my purchase…
For sure I would pay more for better build quality. I have the mega drive one and it’s what expected. Don’t get me wrong, it’s ok, bul I’ll pay more for better build quality and more outs.
It arrived yesterday, really gorgeous sounding. My family and I are down and out with Covid, perfect instrument for some collective healing.
how could I resist testing a device with such a name?
Even though it really wasn’t a bad experience, the box won’t remain much more than a curious collector’s item for me. It certainly has its place and will find some enthusiastic users … I’m probably not in the right target group and there’s little to keep me interested.
Good Jam, thank you. I think this box will be great with external FX.
I love this a lot. This track makes me think of my favorite OSTs from mid 2000s, but it also sounds clearer, without old file compression. Thank you for sharing.
Caved and ordered one, seems like a perfect match for some dark drum machine patterns and external FX. No USB C for midi/audio seems like a cheap oversight.
Dude this sounds so good!!! How are you not exactly who this was made for? Is it the feel of it? Depth or lack thereof? This is absolutely beautiful and I’d love to see more from you and this box.
Sounds great thanks for sharing. I’m interested in the Zoom G4 do you have any experience to compare to the Zoom MS70. The G4 looks much more approachable to edit. Also are you using shimmer reverb on the Sonicware Liven and do the effects sound lofi as well?
Can you use the internal FX on the audio input?
I ordered one. I will become a rich man by making music for Reiki
Decided to preorder this, seems like an easy way to get immediate background textures for songs. Does anyone know what Birdcord cable would work for this? Apparently they use the same power supply as the Korg Volcas.
Thanks a lot !!
I’ll definitely pull the box out again from time to time. But it’s not something I’ll use regularly. The UI is just too “clunky” for that… I think what bothers me most is that it’s hard for me to keep track of everything (for example, which LFO modulated what)… and all the double assignments. The main problem is that I’m in the fortunate position of having lots of alternatives (maybe too much) that are much more fun to work with. Somehow the box often reminded me of the Digitone … probably because of the 4 layers (tracks) … only “cheaper” in almost every respect. But definitely not bad or useless. Very lo-fi but full of character.
As far as I understand, the audio input is only for sampling… at least I haven’t found any such option.
I can’t comment on that, I have no idea… I recorded the track with a Zoom M4 but that’s certainly not what you mean. All I know is that the Zoom MS-70CDR is considered a cheap but good effects pedal… I got it for my daughter for her guitar but haven’t experimented with it much myself.
I used the shimmer in Liven… the reverb itself is OK but nothing that blows me away. I would say that the effects also tend a little towards lofi but that’s hard to say when you can only evaluate them with a fairly lofi sound source.
Sorry i got mixed up Zoom G4 FXs pedal and M4 recorder.
Thanks for confirming about the Liven Ambients FX.
Here’s my first jam on this beauty—hope it soothes you.
Well done! Really appreciate the authentic Stars of the Lid-type thick 90s ambient vibe.
Even more excited for my preorder to ship now.
