I don’t view it as competition for the DN or DT. I recognize that viewpoint is subjective. I decided to order it because I’m fully invested in portable, battery-powered devices, and it appears to offer an intriguing sound creation workflow. I have had many hours of fun using the XT, and I can see pairing the sounds from this with the OP-XY.

Not gonna lie, this looks interesting. Mainly because of the sound palette and performance options. I have a few too many boxes and this or the Lofi 12 XT could be a fun downsizing option…
Going by the above opinions (much appreciated btw, off topic or not), what’s the general consensus on this Sonicware line? Are the screens really that tiny?

The Metal Fetishist Percussion Synthesizer did nothing for me, owning a massive eurorack setup means that machine was doing nothing I’ve not heard before, there’s only so much you can do with analog, looks like Digital is the way to go and with CyDrums I like what I’m hearing…
I’m in the UK and would of ordered but by the time you add postage and import tax I’m better off just waiting until it is available in UK.
any machine that gets me closer to AphexPusher is a machine I want.

true. i did pay introducory price though which iirc is $100 cheaper than after presale, so i still may be saving unless vat is $100

You’ll pay 20% tax and 5% import duty.
on 399 that’s 100.
It will be a bit cheaper as you have to covert dollars to pounds.
I remember when I ordered my Avalon for around $1000, after 3 years waiting the good thing Brian did do was put the value as $199 so I hardly paid any tax.

the voiceover is just an AI announcer voice. i dont think theres much thought put into it beyond what is cheap and available.

Why would they use a chassis with four jack sockets on a drum machine without sampling, and have it have two in / two out? Surely they could have used the inputs as two more assignable outputs.

I’m still wondering about the microphone input as well. Even if you wanted to reuse the chassis design 1:1 from the SmplTrek, it’s odd that you would install an actual microphone in the case too, since there are practically no use cases for it without sampling.
I know it’s a long shot with this company, but I can’t help feeling like we are looking at a device that’s a FW update away from having sampling capabilities

I mean, sure, but if you’re a noise artist and you don’t have at least 4 broken mixers already you need to think about your life choices.
