Sonicware CyDrums

it’s using the same hardware as the previous products - the Smpltrek and the Lofi XT. They don’t change the hardware with each product so that they don’t have to get it retested and approved everytime.

Sadly it doesn’t sample. I think you can route the incoming audio through effects, but not tried it. It’s a weird one. Like @LOHTANGCLAN said, they didn’t change the hardware from their samplers, so it’s a leftover from those.

It’s getting tempting at this price!

I’m back looking at these again after seeing a few recent videos. Can you mix in external audio into the fx? If yes my lxr02 might pair well with this.

Sonicware posted this a few hours ago on their YouTube cannnhel. I wonder if it will effect the price in the EU in any way.

I was weak and subdued to GAS on this one

Watched Vaag’s latest jam and just clicked Buy

The price on Juno was a factor in this defeat against GAS

Any beginner’s tips from people who have been owning the CyDrums for a while?

I recommend sitting down with a good idea of what you’re trying to accomplish with this thing. It’s so limitless that I’ve found myself getting nothing done after an hour or more of sound design unless I have a plan. It’s pretty amazing after some experimentation. Have fun!

Thanks!
Hm, that’s not promising.
I have that with the M8, that I find fascinating, but can’t achieve much with.
Limitations really are a driver for me.

Definitely separate sound design from pattern creation - it’s so easy to get lost in all the possibilities!

Thank you! I will keep that in mind.
Sound design possibilities are indeed what attracted me into getting this machine.
No matter the instrument, I usually spend a lot of time sculpting sounds/patches, and then create very basic patterns.

Truly amazingly detailed video https://youtu.be/CTV0k5k7qlw?si=ntPfFVLxC3_HcDai

Well, damn. Knew it was coming, but damn.

To be fair, it’s the company themselves who will feel the greatest impact from a huge loss of business in a major market, but as consumers it’s also very discouraging. Feels like if I were ever to decide that I wanted to try this device, I simply never would at that price. In fact, I can’t imagine many are so tempted by plastic and silicone as to meet the new price head on.

Sonicware enjoyed a nice run at being an affordable brand with niche market products, let’s all hope for something which brings us back to the path of affordable synths.

Strangely enough, I have found very little information in the manual about MIDI implementation. Like, what can you do with Program Change and CC’s and all?

Did I miss something?

Oh OK, a separate document!
It’s Easter, I take it as an Easter egg.

Anyway, thanks for that!
If ever I feel a need to skew the machine, I guess the M8 and its crazy MIDI capabilities will come handy - once again.
(Like, you can CC control EFX routing, nice :stuck_out_tongue:)

For those with one, how does the input work? Which fx can you use and is there an input volume control like on the digi boxes? If I can slap a filter and delay on the input iI’d be happy.

I haven’t received mine yet, but page 25 of the so-called “fucking manual” will tell you more.

In a nutshell, it seems only reverb can be used (no independent filtering, it seems, sadly), and you can control level.

As per the MIDI implementation chart, both external level and reverb send can be CC’d.
