Hi everyone, I’m using Digitakt 2 with Pro Tools, not always but it happens often when I use Digitakt that when I play back in Song mode it gets stuck. Basically in Pro Tools I inserted some bass sounds while on Digitakt2 the whole drum plays with some long samples, then I press Enter the Song starts and after a while it starts to go out of time. Has this ever happened to anyone?
Make sure you have both clock and transport synced, it sounds like you’re only syncing transport to start the digitakt. If they are sharing the same clock, they shouldn’t drift in such a noticeable way.
Not saying that it isn’t happening to you but it’s a good idea to make sure that either the digitakt is following the daw clock (clock receive enabled in the menu) or that you set up your daw to follow the digitakt clock.
If you are still having issues with drift, I would set it up with clock sending in the other direction from how you have it now and see if it improves. You don’t have to permanently leave it in this configuration, but it would be a good idea to figure out if it happens both ways because maybe something else is interfering and you’re only getting the transport and not clock, in that case I would make sure you don’t have any midi filtering enabled in protools which might prevent the clock from reaching the DT.
Good luck.
thank you so much for your reply, now I check the settings…
Not a problem. If you tell me the results, I will try to help you figure out what’s going on. Hopefully it was only the clock receive.
thanks to your advice i checked the midi settings of pro tools, now it’s fine. thanks a lot again, you’re great
Yes, that was the digitakt menu I was referring to.
That’s great that you found the problem in the pro-tools midi beat clock menu so you could connect digitakt to receive the protools clock, I didn’t know the specific name, but I thought there would be something similar.
I’m glad it turned out to be a simple fix. Enjoy your music making!
