Some interesting musical ephemera

While searching the vaults for a FireWire cable (which I didn’t find) I came across these bits of musical history. Well, sort of

They were rescued from New Order’s rehearsal room when they vacated it. It’s a bit of a window into the gear they used over the years. Amongst the pile of stuff there was a covering letter that must have come with one of the manuals which was addressed to Rob Gretton but I can’t seem to find that now. It’s somewhere, just not with the rest of it

Here’s a few pics.

Octave Plateau sequencer would have been on the Voyetra 8, as seen in The Perfect Kiss video (Low Life released in 85, which also lines up)

Same company but different product!

Sequencer Plus was PC software; there was no sequencer on the Voyetra-8 synth:

Oh, right, the famous one. This YouTube video includes an inside tour of its current configuration:

I used to live a mile from there, but never knew anything about it until reading Hooky’s book.

I’ve not read his book but yeah, it was tucked away behind Cheetham Hill Rd near the shopping precinct. Martin Coogan (of the Mock Turtles and brother of Steve) opened it as a studio. Not sure if it’s still open? I went to the opening.

Apparently still running as Vibe studio. The YouTube video above includes a look inside and an interview with the operator.
