as I further explore the realm of DAWless music production, my setup is continuously expanding. I by now have some Elektron instruments:
Digitakt
Rytm mk1
Analog Four mk2
and a couple of other synths:
Moog Sub Phatty
Korg microKorg
The other day I was in a music store, and had the chance to test live the Dave Smith Prophet Rev2 - and I totally fell in love with its sound. Never ever have I heard such warm pads from a softsynth, it simply blew me away. So, I assume that this would be my next synth. Therefore, I have couple of questions:
I obviously want to keep using the DT as the brain of my setup. Up until now, I sequence the SubPhatty & the microKorg with it, and plan to sequence also the Prophet Rev2 obviously also with it. I only did sequencing now via the step sequencer…
the Prophet has a very nice, 61key keyboard - would it be possible to use it to play the other synths as well, over the DT? or is midi-in only limited to one synth?
when creating pads, 4-bar loops are quite often simply not enough - especially with slower pad progressions. How can I create longer, more complex melodies? Or is the DT simply too limited for what I want?

if you change the pattern scale you can play 8 (or in fact 16) bar chord patterns in one pattern (although then you can only change chords on 8th or quarter notes - but often that’s fine.)
10.9 in the manual (plus it was added in a reasonably recent OS update if you haven’t updated)
how does it work? is the synth that I choose via the midi track on the DT automatically assigned to be controlled by the midi-input? meaning that I wouldnt control the Prophet at all for sure, if I have selected the midi track of the e.g. SubPhatty?
You can do so by setting the MIDI channel number of the keyboard to match that of the “Auto channel” on the DT. Then the DT will route the MIDI messages to whichever instrument is selected for the active MIDI sequencer track on the DT (the active track is the track that has the focus of the DT’s user interface).
See page 62 of the DT’s manual for more information.
