[SOLVED ]Sorry, noob question

Hey guys,
Sorry but I need to ask a noob question.

I’ve been octatracking for like a week now and dear god, this machine blows me away at least once a day!

Anyway, just now I recorded a beat from volca beats to track1 with flex buffer1. No problem so far.
Then I lay like a noise layer with op-hat to track2.
Flex buffer2. Like a charm.

Then I switch over to volca bass for a groove.
I use track 3 flex buffer3.

Suddenly every recording I’ve done is this groove from volca bass!!?

I don’t get it, where did I go wrong?

Volca beats had midi ch10 and bass ch9.

Please enlighten me

Apparently both beats and bass had midi ch10, is that the simple answer to my question?
No I just forgot to remove the record trigger on other already recorded tracks…

It’s unclear what you’re saying : I think you mix 3 different things.

the MIDI track : when you press the “MIDI” button you access the MIDI side of OT, and you can control external gear. This as nothing to do with the audio recording side of OT.
the Record track, accessed by pushing Fn+Rec button. You will record the source you’ve chosen (A B, A, B, A+B, same for C/D, and/or each internal track / main / cue)
the Audio track. By using Flex you can play any sample, or the Recording buffer of the Record track.

Now.

What may have happen is that you have set trigs on each Record track to start recording, and when you press play they all start to record (and so erase what has previously been recorded).

If you want to keep your loop for another day, save your buffer as a file. It’s the only way to keep your loop for further use, cause the buffers are erased when you switch off the OT.
If you just want to jam with your Volcas and sample on-the-fly, then use for instance A for the Beats > track 1, B for the Bass > track 2 and C for the Keys > track 3.
You could also record everything from the same A/B input (for instance if the 3 Volcas are plugged on a mixer which output the mix to the OT) : in this config, you would have to arm only the track that you want to record to ensure that you don’t erase the recordings on the other track.

I hope I have answered your question in a way that is understandable

Yeah thanks man, Everything that day felt a bit unclear!
Got it after an hour of doing something else actually.
i have a different question regarding what you´re saying about rec- ab, a,b.
when I plug in a strero cable direct from say bass to just “A” the sound only comes thru one speaker (mono). can you get “A” to record to stereo?

According to the manual (page 49 to be precise), the recording should be stereo by default. Maybe try the BAL setting in the Amp menu?

You can set “A” as the only source for recording, no trouble with this.
Your track will then record this only source in Stereo.
So when you play this, you should have your sound in both ears.

Now I just tested it, first on a current project, it was doing complete nonsense.
But the project had begun before the upgrade of firmware.
I started on a fresh set and it’s perfectly OK.

(I will have to identify the source of the mess on the first set though, what’s happening doesn’t make sense.)

Ahah @Baddcr I don’t really get you question.
About the “google it yerself” I agree with you it’s extremely aggressive.
Except maybe in situations where people are talking lightly…
“Google it oneself” is OK though
