[SOLVED] Controlling Volca Sample with Octatrack?

Hi everyone! I’m quite new with the Octa and I’ve been trying to sequence the Volca Sample with the Octa’s MIDI parts with no success, I wonder of you could help me out with this…

So, the Volca Sample has fixed MIDI channels for each part (1-10)
I configured each of the 8 MIDI tracks from the Octa to channels 1-8 (I did confirm the channel clicking the encoder)

I also tried turning all options from the MIDI menu to send click, prog ch, transp… I tried triggering notes over all octaves, but the Volca doesn’t seem to be recieving it… I do know that it sounds (I have it going thru the input A-B, I have the DIR level all the way up and it actually sounds just fine if I play the volca manually)

I don’t know what else I might be missing… any thoughts?
thanks!

If you’re not getting anything through my first guess would be that the MIDI cable is faulty, can you test it on another device?

The second thing that comes to mind though I don’t think it’s likely, is that maybe the Volca’s MIDI RX ShortMessage and MIDI Clock src settings are not right. They should be “on” and “auto” respectively, see the Volca manual on how to check these.

edit: One more thing. I don’t have the Sample so am not sure but did you try all notes on all octaves? Maybe there’s just one note that triggers samples, since there is no way to chromatically play them?

hey JSZ! thanks for the reply
the midi cable seems to work just fine, as the Volca recieves start/stop messages when I activate the option on the Octa… I’ll try the MIDI RX settings, I thought it wasn’t necessary…
I did try to play in every note, pressing one key like a maniac while scrolling thru the note parameter… nothing happened so far - I’ll try the RX thing!

it works!
the MIDI RX setting was off on the volca
thanks a lot!

been there, done that
I’ve even made a template set with 10 CC parameters already set up for each track, as it had to be done one by one
thanks again!
