Most jazz recordings apparently. I came across this video just the other day:
I was a bit surprised as I’ve been a drummer for quite sometime(mind you not as a jazz drummer per se) and I was not familiar that this was the case.
I suppose one could say these are the softest recorded kicks that we never heard

The Mbase11 makes some great soft kicks with ease, until they fade into subbass with no pitch env. love it for that.
As it fits to your BC reference - from a current track of mine, pulsing with the Mbase
