guys (and gals) . . . i have a load of crap that i use regularly and limited space. im in need of some inspiration to figure out how to best set everything up.
but heres the thing:
my “studio” currently resides in a basement in a home that i plan to sell next spring. im not looking to really outfit this space perfectly, but i want to buy for a future rig. i realize that some aspects are contingent on what the new space actually is, but as far as furniture goes, im looking for ideas.
basically, i have a MBP, a 27" imac, and a 27" monitor, a A&H 24 channel mixer, elektron analog keys and monomachine, and a bunch of effect pedals. (you can click THIS link to see a list of exactly what i have). ive got a bit of rack-able stuff, like my interface, power conditioner, etc . . . im just trying to figure how to best organize all the playable stuff in the most efficient way. thats why im trying to start a “setup” thread.
sadly and regrettably, im not really into tuning the room as i cant justify putting the work in to figure what i need and where i need to put it since ill (hopefully) be leaving in < a year. efficient composition is the focus right now.
to be honest though, i CANT WAIT to get to that stage. thanks for the input

Just some ideas…
I’m in a similiar situation … small room in a rented house. I bought 2 cheap Ikea desks: one L shaped and one straight, and one of these for mixer and rack stuff in between the desks:
http://www.amazon.com/Stage-WSR7500RB-Cabinet-Accessory-Rosewood/dp/B004JVTOSU/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1431642590&sr=8-4&keywords=ws7500+workstation
I have an ergotronic arm attached to this rack with a Push controller.
On the L-shaped desk I have the iMac, monitors, another ergotronic arm for second monitor, EIT-1 for A4 and Octa, Nord G2 in between iMac and keyboard as master controller, Rytm to the right of trackpad, 12u of Eurorack propped on guitar stand.
On the other desk I used a quiklok keyboard-stand extension clamped to the back of the desk. On this I placed a black 24in shelf I got from home depot and attached 2 rails so I can prop 2 rows of guitar pedals and a x0xb0x. This works so well I’m considering adding another to the back of the mixer rack. Next to that I have a monitor stand where I’ve place an MS20 and in front I have a V-synth.
So yeah … reused a lot of old junk but I think it looks great and the ergonomics are excellent. I’ll try and post pics this evening.
i actually have that very same On Stage rack in my amazon wish list, but the reviews are kinda sketchy . . . in any event id love to see your rig; im having a hard time visualizing the rails that hold the effects.
Can you post some pics?
I’m a big fan of ergonomics, aka Comfort Tetris.
Hard to recommend configurations without a current visual of what isn’t working.
Also, with regards to the computer, it depends on how you work. Is the computer acting as a recorder? Do you do DAW arranging/producing?
What percentage of your time is spent with hardware vs software? etc.
Well as promised, here are some (bad) pics. I laughed when I took these because I realize it probably looks like a feckin’ mess!! But it works really well for me so …
Anyway, you probably can’t really tell how I McGuyvered that shelf holding the pedals/x0xb0x. I tried to find it online for you and failed. It’s basically a keyboard stand second tier that has clamps, similiar to this:
https://on-stage.com/products/view/117159
It holds the shelf and the shelf has 2 rails screwed onto it.
Here’s the OnStage rack which for some reason gets bad reviews:
Can’t remember what the bad reviews were about but I’ve had zero problems and it fits the X32 Compact perfectly. I added a drawer which contains a couple of pedals you can see better here:
The second Monorocket case is propped up on a guitar stand:
Push and Rytm are placed so they can easily be disconnected for couch jamming!

Have you thought about building some cheap, movable bass traps?
You can make some with pre-existing frames like the drawers that slide into Ikea beds.
You can construct them in such a way that you can easily transport themake to your new digs.
